That chassis is 1/24 Gary.I built it myself.

If you want one in 1/32 scale,if you arn't in a hurry,I guess I could build you one.

Bwaminispeed, looking at it it does look larger than 32nd scale. Nearly 20 years ago I bought the parts and copied a 32nd scale chassis built along the same lines as the one pictured. It had a solid piano wire front axle with small front wheels and hinged pans. We ran 32nd scale wing bodies on them and they were a blast. I think I could build it if I could find a source for the parts. If you have the parts, or know where I could get them.....and 32nd scale bodies suitable for mounting wings....I would appreciate the help getting them.....or if you want to build a chassis like that I'd buy it.

Here's a picture of a similar chassis I found also.

Not many 1/32nd wing car chassis available, as so few people run 1/32nd scale wing cars. Now if you want to get into 1/32nd scale Eurosport type cars there are a number of chassis around from several sources Such as DVR, Mossetti, Cahoza etc. They don't make them out of brass sheet and wire anymore.

They are now laser cut steel chassis that are very sophisticated and have gotten a bit expensive for the average racer. They run with semi scale bodies and look not quite scale anymore. You could get one and put a wing style body on. It seems Parma used to make a 1/32nd scale wing type body but have not seen one for a long time.

"Patto's Place" Site may have a brass type chassis available for a bit better price you could use, if you check his site out. I don't have the URL handy right now. If you want to pursue it, e-mail me or contact BWA to make you one.

I have just got back into home slot racing after many years and having never been able to throw anything away I dug out my collection of the Model Cars magazine from the UK . They span from 67 to 72 , as well as scale plans and kit reveiws there are a great deal of "how to,s " and articles on constructing wire/brass frames for 1/32 cars.
In the UK 1/32 was the major scale , 1/24 being
run at only the superspeedways such as Tottenham.
I my self ran only two 1/24 races a year , so a great deal of development went into the smaller scale chassis. I have seen one full 16D sidewinder frame which has the pinion gear inside the can just too squeeze in the max. tire width at the rear !
I would like to set up a web page and share some of thease articles but I am not shure of the copyright situation , puhaps someone could advise

Hi

In most cases the original writers are the copyright holders unless they sold such rights to the mag(not likely).
I am sure if you contact BSCRA, you will find contact with many of the guys. People like Charlie Fitzpatric are still in business.

If you really want to buy them , have your local slotshop order them from Ferret Mfg in Florida They have them in 1/24 also...in order to make them HANDLE, you must take out the .062 long wires and replace them with .047 or .055. . softer suspension.

Gary

about 1000 years ago, I built many similar chassis, except they were straight sidewinder or inlines, and had a narrower center section and wider side pans. The center section of my chassis were also set up to work like a drop flg with about 1/4 inch drop.

I've been out of slots for over 30 years, and have just returned

You're just what I was looking for! I just recently posted in the Vintage forum looking for copies of articles from the 68-72 Model Cars magazines featuring pictures of the top scratchbuilt chassis (like Lee Gilbert's) from that era. Please send me anything and everything you scan, at least until you sort out copyright and can post them publicly.

There's a few chassis pictures posted in reply to my thread in Vintage forum, in case anyone following this thread is interested.

Regards,

Steve

Gary,

The only think you need are supplies of music wire, brass tube and brass sheet. Any slot car track or hobby shop should carry these. The only think that can't be cut and soldered is the swg in the drop arm for the guide shoe. You can make these yourself by crushing the droparm in a vice with an appropriate spacer offset on each side, or simply solder on a seperate tongue (available preshaped and pre drilled from your local raceway).

Good luck,

Steve
