Enjoying the column Monty, keep up the good work.

Both you and Paul C said you don't cool your motors between heats and that if the motor gets hot, something might be wrong. I'm confused, even when breaking in a motor (when I don't use water) the motor will get warm or hot depending on your perspective. If you break in 12 motor at 3 volts and it is drawing about 4 amps, that's 12 watts of electricity. This heat has to be disapated somewhere. When you run a motor on a 14 volt track now you are talking about 40 to 50 watts. There has to be some heat generated unless you had wire with zero resistance.

The question is how much "heat" is normal. Assuming the stacks don't discolor and the comm stay clean, is this OK?

Thanks
Paul

PDM1,
Chicky said that he DID cool his motors in the flexis in between heats but he DIDN'T cool his open motors. I thought it was interesting that he did for one and not the other. Heres the quote.
"I also cool the motor with a fan every heat. I am sure I forgot some other stuff. "

Paul,

Exactly: Comm is good, stacks aren't olive drab, doesn't stink - its OK!
