Monty, what's the deal with these? Have you tested them?

Do they work better with certain timing/diameter arms?

I like their small size, think they might work with a superwasp arm for a medium power road course? I'm thinking light weight/handling!

Dan,

I've built a few dozen motors using the Kelly C can magnets, compared to hundreds with Mura/ProSlot type magnets. The obvious advantage is indeed the lighter weight, and the most obvious disadvantage is that they must be honed, making it difficult to match them accurately.

The difference in tip shape also concerns me, as the lack of defined tips seems to lead to less torque both in theory and observation. This can be good in certain select applications, such as short tracks and/or low traction conditions, but causes a distinct problem for high power, wing cars, and longer tracks.

Accordingly, don't go too high on the timing and expect to gear quite low. In this respect, they seem to react similar to the SMQ magnets.

For the info, Monty.

Yes, I raised an eyebrow also when I took a look at the tips - They are pretty rough, shoddy looking magnets, but they measured really high on my Trik Trak meter.

I thought maybe this was just because they had shorter tips and were therefore closer to the probe, so I measured them from the back - still higher than Muras or Proslots.

Anyway, they're going in a motor, guess the best thing to do is try them for myself!
