This was our first opportunity to try out the newly designed and installed Qualifying Power system and I think we are pleased with it.
8 Racers signed up for Am GP-12 and the TQ and new amateur world record holder is our own John Davis aka "JD". JD turned a 2.359 to best a WR that has stood since the Tulsa Nats. Congratulations JD!!
The race started well better than record pace then got a bit ugly about half way. At the end, our very own Tony Moore missed the lap Amateur WR by 2 laps.
1 Tony Moore.......495
2 JD....................478
3 Mike LeBlanc....454
4 John tedder.....401
5 Mike Swenor....372
6 Billy Bell............362
7 Marvin Bles.......257
8 Ranney Daughtery..240
TQ - John Davis - 2.359 - NEW WORLD RECORD!
In 15A, a small field but we ran through a quick round of Qualifying and TQ was Lamo (Brian Eardley) with a 2.202
In the race the pace was fast and we were very dissapointed that we didn't have 8 as we were sure that the track would have given up yet another World record.
1 Mike Swenor...........578 (new Track record and 27 laps over WR pace)
2 Lamo......................565
3 JD...........................544
4 Wendell Peters.......500
5 Jimbo Kirby..............445
TQ - Lamo (Brian Eardley) - 2.202
Thanks to everyone that did show and we'll do it again for GP-12 and Opens on December 10th.
Awesome run Tony! I wish I could have been there... maybe next month...
JD, that's one hell of a time for Am box - nicely done! Mike Swenor, I15A will never be the same - wow!!
Okay, I need a drink...

My mistake on the Am GP-12 track record. Tony didn't get it. It is held by Phil Lee with a 509 at the Mid-Atlantic ISRA race.
(we believe that if we have a scheduled race and 5 or more race, lap totals will count as track records, world records require 8 racers)
Ed, nobody blew up. Most of the comments I heard were " the power is sweet"

It has been and will continue to be the policy of the TRACK that if we schedule a race and at least 5 people contest the class, we will honor the lap total as a TRACK record so Phil's 509 will stand as a TRACK record.
We believe that if racers attend a regularly scheduled event, they should not be penalized because enough folks didn't show up. If there are enough to hold the race (5) then there are enough for a TRACK record.
We understand that this does not play in the World record hunt.

Scott! I know mine is not a "world" record, but the way it was explained to me, in order to hold a "track" record, there must be five or more racers, which we did have, just as there were five racers in the I-15A race where Mike holds the "track" record for that class. Am I correct, or suffering from too many acid flux fumes?

King Track World Record Chart has been updated with JD's new record added.

Congrats JD and The Track!
I'm continually amazed at not only how the records keep dropping... but at how incredibly close the lap times are at so many top raceways.
The incredibly close lap times being turned on so many different tracks, built by different builders even, at so many different locations... only helps to establish or at least "call" these acheivements as "WORLD RECORDS" and not simply "TRACK RECORDS" - as the differences between these tracks is less then the difference in Baseball Parks - where major League Records are kept for EVERYTHING.
