Arm Wars. I know NOTHING about electricity. So I don't get the problem of one arm being legal and one not if they ohm out the same. Isn't the ohm rating the "bottom line" when it comes to an arm? I mean if an HO company, say company B, makes a balanced trued "Hot Stock" arm that fits a Tyco and company, oh, lets call it W, makes a balanced and trued "Hot Stock" arm that also fits a Tyco and they ohm out the same, aren't they equal? No advantage to either side unless you like green wire better than red?
Just wondering.

Well...if your only talking about the arms from the two you mentioned, here goes...
Usually a class has a specified wind with wire size and number of turns required.
The red wire arms are truly 'stock'winds;epoxy, stack truing, balancing being done.
The green wire arms have bigger wire and have fewer turns than 'stock',making them a faster arm.
If your're running a class where'worked-up'stock arms are used, better stay with a red wire job...unless Race Director says different.

this may be true in 1/24 racing, though i have never seen a green wound arm, but in HO, the color of the wire shouldnt make a difference. IE t-jets, i have see armature w/ red, green, AND brown wire on them. i just think its what the manufacturer had at that time.

Check the BSRT catalog.

The original Green wire arms came from the Aurora of Canada"Screecher"cars, which were a varient of the Original G-Plus that ran on a drycell battery powered track.G.B. Epoxied and balanced them and were fast enough not to need to bother with rewinding arms.If I remember right, they were about 35 gauge.
