Hello Monty.

We will have an outlaw GT-12 racing soon and I would like to know if the set-up for a wing motor will work for a GT12?

What is the ideal gearing for a GT12 in a 155 Hillclimb and also what tire diameter should I use?

Regards,

Enrico

Enrico,

Your existing G12 motors should be fine for GT12. In fact, even the gearing will be pretty close if you ignore tire size.

GT12 usually calls for smaller tires, but naturally your local rules must prvail. Slick 7 Asp chassis, for instance, run the same axle height as the wing chassis, but since .032" clearance is usually specified instead of .063" we usually use tires pre-ground to .720" to start. They will have to come off the car to avoid dragging at about .680" diameter. Somewhere in between, the car should handle quite well. Typically, lap times are just .3 seconds slower than the wing cars. This assumes the wing car was timed on race power and spray glue only.
