We normally run GTP with super 16d's and we race them on the hillclimb. I thought it might be fun, to run a scale class that we are not used to. I think gp12 motors in GTP cars, with ultimate and HD bodies on the King. Must be a flexi chassis with 5/8 front wheels (rubber ones are fine). 3/32 axels, any pitch gear and you may float the body mounts. 1/16 track clearence.

Hey Bent, your first post on this thread indicates that the Barn Burner is the last weekend of Feb. then you go on to list the dates....18 - 23 Feb.

Man, if that's what you New Yawkers call a weekend.....I'm moving north bubba!!!!

Bent rim
12-17-2002, 06:04 AM
It sounds better, to say to your wife; I going to Port Jeff for the weekend. I have to spred this thing out a little, I'm getting too old, to go on 1hr sleeps. I found it's more fun to be awake for the event. Besides if JPVR hooks me up with Coca Cola next year, it may take a month to run this race.;)

Gentleman,

I'd be glad to supply lunch, but at the prices I charge, I wouldn't have to pay USRA entry fees, track time, and would get all the parts I need for the next 2 years. I don't think that the NEUSRA track owners would agree to that.

It's only in your heads! The boys from Port Jeff do not even think about "lets beat the Slot a Lot guys" Only the Kids from Slots a Lot think there is this big competition between the stores. Nobody is keeping score. I hope all of you win something at this years Barn Burner. If a rivalry is what you need to get ready for a big race, I don't have a problem with it!!!

PS Scott, he'll be there!

Life is full of these small sacrifices Paul.....lol.

Besides, I think racing 27s and Opens at this race will be an education in itself and if he wins, he can buy his own books for a while. :)

What day is everybody planning on arriving??

oldweirdherald
02-10-2003, 01:04 AM
Republished from The Oregonian, Feb 9, 2003:

It has been disclosed from internal sources that the international slot car terrorist known as "Old Weird Herald" has been rumoured to be heading to an upcoming gathering described as "The Barnburner", scheduled for Feb. 18-22 somewhere on Long Island, NY. Upon further inquiries as to the nature of the event, it was described as "a bunch of grown-ups who play with toy cars".

Due to the immense international tension surrounding "Old Weird Herald", it is understood that he now travels with a heavily armed entourage of personal body guards.

http://www.oldweirdherald.com/owhgallery/albums/album01/aaa.sized.jpg

"OWH", as the online slot car publication is refered to among the cult-like following of slot car racing fanatics who follow the online publication, is reported to be attending the Barnburner to provide what was refered to as "Almost Live" coverage of the event. It is not known, however, how the international slot car media will be recieving or reacting to the Old Weird Herald coverage of the event, due to a recently published boycott of the OWH web site, as well as it's reported lack of faith in the credibility of the American online publication's journalistic integrity.

OWH's recent appearances include "Almost Dead" coverage of the Pacific NW AMCA racing, the Portland "Beaverfest" Warm-up Race, in Portland, OR, and the HO Slot Car event known as "The Fray in Ferndale" in Ferndale, Calif.

OWH was last seen this weekend apparently in charge of a jammed-packed slot car raceway called "Raceway USA" in Portland, Oregon, entertaining Cub Scout Troops, hosting birthday parties, and race directing weekly races for even more of these "grown-ups (and kids) who play with toy cars".

Paul "OWH" Kassens could not be reached online for further comments, as he was reportly last seen leaving the bustling raceway headed out for "Suds, pizza, and Beaver hunting", headed somewhere in the direction of Beaverton, Oregon. Witnesses recently reported having spotted his van in the vicinity of "Wankers Corner", just a few miles from Beaverton.

Authorities and slot racers on Long Island have been warned of "OWH's" appearance, reportedly to be arriving at Islip McArthur airport sometime Thursday Feb 20. Local Long Island night clubs will also be staked out in anticipation of his arrival, as he is reported to also be celebrating his birthday, and has been rumoured to occassionally frequent such establishments.

Weather will be high 70's low 80,s wear shorts and T-shirts!;) 2 Blocks from the airport is a place called Skin Games. Most all of the strip clubs are owned by a certain motorcycle gang. You can have a great time BUT please don't do anything STUPID!

It wasn't easy, Doug- in a snowstorm (I'm sure that warm weather forecast will be accurate though) in the dark, on Long Island (I found out how LONG it was- I was out at the Hamptons before I realized I missed the turn). The directions are hard to follow when the signs are all covered up with white stuff.

Anyway- you have a great place, and I really appreciate the guy (Gary?) staying there so I could see the place. Again- great shop!!!

Bent rim
02-13-2003, 07:21 AM
What kind of loonie drives around Long Island in a snow storm. You are nuts! I am glad you found it, I am sorry, I coudn't be there to meet you.
Joe SSSS we have been gearing 8- 38 64 pitch or 9- 42 in 72 pitch. Joe I thought you were a wing racer only. Are you going to liter the track with your flexikar? I may have to replace wall moldings again. :D

Thanks to a pick me up (a.k.a. a motor tab), I am running again. I will be at the Barnburner and I will run Amatuer Group 12. The DDDDDDDork will run again.

Dam I love this hobby. Well it was a quick quit too. I really did think I was giving up. I solved a lot of problems (by ignoring them), gave up on the girls(after realizing that most of them want a george clooney in a john lovitz world) for the time being, and solved money problems (i will have you paid off soon doug i promise).

P.S. Charlie I will be there friday for the body. Leave it to someone if your not going to be there. I would really like to test it.
