Even watching online - that was extremely exciting to watch! Last night the A Quarterfinal looked like a main event, and was a real nail-biter... but today the A Semi was an awesome race!

The projected lap total and projected overall position really adds to the excitement - as you can follow along knowing exactly where everyone stands. In the C & B semis - you can speculate and play out all the "what if" scenarios... but in the A Semi - all the cards are face up, and the projected laps and position give you an accurate projected representation of where they stand.

After an awesome 405 lap total in the B Semi, Nikolay from Russia had the lap total to beat. Roy Hood with a 401 certainly had a shot. Once the A Semi got going, it looked like all 8 could move to the main. Miroslav began to struggle, and his projected laps showed him clearly out of contention for a few heats. Then Miroslav made a dramatic comeback, and was tied with Guido - both fighting for the last move-up spot. While the leaders drove an impeccable race, and only needed to finish without breaking, Miroslav & Guido battle for the last spot. Tied in projected laps with Roy's 401, they both picked up the pace and reeled in Nikolay's 405 lap total. Now it was a battle to either beat each other, or to finish ahead of Nikolay's 405!

All this information on screen made it all the more exciting to watch, along with the very high quality live action webcam on the track. The leaders continued to cruise at a pace above all others. As Greg Gilbert began to reel in the leaders, Paul Ciccarello's car began to slow and drop rapidly in his pace... all he had to do was keep it going to make the main.

After a dramatic comeback for Miroslav, he struiggled on red lane and dropped below Nikolay's 405 pace... while Guido hovered just above it. Now it was a race to the finish to see who would make the final moveup...

As the power went off - Miroslav fell short at 403. All 7 other A Semi drivers made the moveup to the main, joined by Russia's Nikolay Dolzhanski.

If this main is anything like the A Semi - which I'm sure it will be - this will be very exciting!!!

Here's the lineup for the 1/24 Eurosport main:

Pos. Name Total Laps Best Time
1. Paul Gawronski 18 417.38 4.287 USA
2. Piero Castricone 4 413.88 4.398 ITA
3. Antonin Vojtik 2 413.35 4.429 CZ
4. Greg Gilbert 66 413.17 4.366 USA
5. Vladimir Horky 1 409.78 4.403 CZ
6. Paul Ciccarello 240 409.64 4.372 USA
7. Guido Santarelli 36 406.18 4.454 ITA
8. Nikolay Dolzhanskiy 24 405.36 4.423 RU

I thought I had a good change to make the main with 401 but the A semi was just too good. An amazingly clean race. The might have been a dozen or so fall offs by the 8 of them combined. I marshalled the race and I touched maybe 2 cars.

The main was really exciting. Could Horky and Vojtik make it with no tire changes? Could Gawronski run down Chick? I will post a video of the last two heats on YouTube soon.

Some really great racers were here this week. One of the strongest field ever assembled in the US for this type of racing.

During the race, at the chat, you mentioned something about a new Mossetti euro motor, saying there is a thread about it.

Can you point me which thread it is ? I could not find it.

Best regards.

André Acker.

"Dr Verdo" aka Peter Verdo has been developing a new "Nano" motor. I believe Ernie Mossetti, Slick 7, and other are involved in the manufacturing - don't know who will be marketing them. So far the pics I have seen are prototypes and pre-production.

They were discussed in a couple threads:

I do not know if Peter Verdo or Mike Stahl raced or tested the new motors during the ISRA Worlds, or at what stage of progress they are at.

just one outside observers opinion........(see LoudCat Post) tire compound also seems to be very important.
I know that tire changes are also very important..........I heard that there was a lot of practice going on.........just like F-1 and all other racing.

Any specs on the top cars such as motor set up, tires, gearing, and maybe even chassis (for those that may not know by looking at the pictures)?

All 3 cars used the horky chassis, Top 2 used their own rubber and cahoza rims, I used rough cut ufra's from Roger. Horky used a 19/25 20 mag , Anthony used a 23/25 12 mag and I used a 20/25 12 mag, all horky setups and PK arms. Top 2 used horky built motors, I used Peter Krcil motor, Top 2 used 6/45 and I used 6/44.
