This is Tess Miller on Old Weirds Name. Weird One decided to take the day of to go touring Washington DC. So, I'm sorry but the results will not be posted until tomorrow when he will return:mad: !!! Just Kiddin. Iwill be posting all the results from the races today, and I will certainly post the qualifying times. If there are any more requests, just let me know, and I will do my best. I will also be taking pictures, so if anyone that couldn't show up wants any certain picture of someone, then let me know, and I will try to get that. Tech hasn't even opened yet, but I suppose things will start to move along quckly soon. Talk to everyone soon....Tess

Thats cool of you, usually the gp12 people have already jammed, Please say hello to your dad, .......PS how does it feel to be the rage of the nats .........Ron

08-15-2003, 08:10 AM
We are qualifying right now. So far the tq is Andres G. who got a 2.039!!! There have been some close calls but noone has beat it yet. I will say hey to my dad, and, haha, didn't think I was the "rage". Lol. I guess that I will see you in a couple days, Roman has just informed me that you should be here soon. The tq was just beat with a 2.036 by Boyt Johnson. I'll update everyone as soon as this round isover and the bye round begins. ttyl, Tess

08-15-2003, 08:24 AM
We are in the break between the first and bye round. It was amazing!! Larry Blanton and Greg Mills got totally identical times for tq, each holding a 1.9977!!!

08-15-2003, 08:49 AM
Paul won't be back for another couple hours but when he does get back I'll make sure to show him your request. I'm sure he'll be delighted.

Roney is in the 27 field, and thank you, haha, I don't feel it.

1.9399- Boyt Johnson (so far in the bye)

Are Roney Fischler in the 27 field???

PS: u re beautiful!!! :D :D :D

08-15-2003, 09:00 AM
TESS/OWH thanks for the great coverage of Pro 27 qualifying! It's somewhat reassuring to see that they're not toooo much quicker than Am 27 was. It was impressive to see how quick they were right "out-of-the-box" in practice yesterday before I headed home. 2.2s and 2.3s no problem.

I'd like to thank everyone for making this years event the success it is, particularly Roman for his hard work.

Fred :)

08-15-2003, 09:07 AM
It just ended, and Larry Blanton tqd with a 1.882 which is also a new track record. WAY TO GO LARRY!!!
Haha, that time popped out of nowhere, Mike Swiss couldn't stop screaming, "yeah, yeah, yeah larry" while pumping his fist.

There were 25 entries, but no, qualifying does not give any racer an automatic go into the semis or such, only thing ya get is bragging rights. Which is always a good thing right???

Qualifying times for Pro 27...(top 8)
1. Larry Blanton - 1.882
2. Boyt Johnson - 1.939
3. Greg Mills - 1.986
4. Paul "Beuf" Pederson - 2.012
5. Paul Ciccarello - 2.057
6. Josef Korec - 2.057
7. Spove - 2.064
8. Vladimir Horky - 2.068

There was a computer problem and the first round did not print out, so the best times had to be rewritten by hand. Roman will have to help us with getting the rest of the times later.

Pro Group 27

25 Entries

TQ - Larry Blanton-1.882

Concours - Beuf

D Quarter Final

1 - Paul "Beuf" Pederson - 365
2 - Mike "Erkle" Tylinski - 340
3 - Vince Brown- 337
4 - Anders Gustafsson - 330
5 - Roney Fischler - 328
6 - Benny Justice - 221

Sorry, I took a little long...I was attacked by Forrest Watchers. He decided to take an oil rag and roll it up so he could painfully kill the back of my knee. Definately no feeling in the back of my right leg. If you ever see Forrest getting ready to whip something with a rag...RUN!!!!
Beuf totally dominated the first quarter, I guess everyone can tell from the race laps, he looked pretty carefree. Starting the C quarter now, I will have those results when it is over.
Ps, JPVR, I am having a hard time getting a hold of a good copy of that qual list, I will update what I had on the old post once I get it.

C Quarter Final

1 - Vlado Okali - 347
2 - Paul Ciccarello - 346
3 - Zdenek Benes - 323
4 - Greg Mills- 316
5 - Gary Puetz - 287
6 - Marcio Paschoalin - 284

It got really close in the end, alot of people were holding their breathes for first place. But Vlado took it all and we're moving on to the B quarter!!

08-15-2003, 11:06 AM
You rock! Look forward to seeing you back at the track. Marc didn't beleive your success until I started working on the update to Jacks site. He said cool and he was going to beat you when you got back. LOL

Did one get lost behind the fish tank?

08-15-2003, 02:47 PM
What happened to Brian? He looked strong in practice; home track, great racer. Where did he go?

Fred

08-15-2003, 02:49 PM
Pro Group 27 B Semi

1 - Paul "Beuf" Pederson - 373
2 - Paul Ciccarello - 356
3 - Anders Gustafsson - 346
4 - Greg Mills - 345
5 - Mike "Erkle" Tylinski - 342
6 - Zdenek Benes - 341
7 - Vlado Okali - 336
8 - Vince Brown- 328

Towards the end things got real tight with Erkle and Mills. Mills would pull ahead and then something would cause him to crash, as Erkle snuck up behind him. In the end, Mills stayed strong as Erkle ran into one last problem. Beuf totally ran away with the win once again, and Anders ran into some last second problems. Now we are beginning the A semi, and I will write back about that as soon as it is finished.

Lamo is Brian Erdley, and why does it make a difference if I am the first lady reporter, haha, it doesn't. I'm not writing the last names because I'm too dam lazy.....lol. And plus, you boys tend to figure it out yourselves fairly well.
And thank you very much ricardo, you say very nice things about me though Im still not sure who you are.

Did I just get called a lazy girl???? Hmm, cause you know, I could have sworn I didn't. Haha, I don't think I'd be busting my *** running a raffle, keeping owh up to date, cleaning braid for someone, and taking pictures at the same time if I was a lazy girl, I'll give the results in just a minute from the a semi. tess

08-15-2003, 03:57 PM
Pro Group 27 A Semi

1 - Mike Swiss- 357
2 - Vladimr Horky- 349
3 - Rich Liontonio- 347
4 - Josef Korec - 343
5 - Keith Bauer - 338
6 - Boyt Johnson - 335
7 - Larry Blanton - 317
8 - Rich Curnutte - 312

Yeah, tension was definately high in the last 2 heats. We had some screaming at race directors and all that fun stuff. I don't understand how that is poosible considering the fact that I believe Roman is the best race director ever, but I guess some people think differently. I think that Roman deserves alot more credit then he is recieving...though he did get two very nice looking OZ boxes the other day for all he is doing for all of us. The main will be begining shortly, and I will be posting heat by heat, if that is possible for me to do. Talk to you all then......Tess

R. Herrera

He is the best, but at this level and what is at stake the racers get a little testy. Looks like it will be a great main.

OK kids - "Mom" is back, and I see I had a bit of house cleaning to do. I deleted a few posts, because this thread is about reporting the USRA National Championships, not argueing about how we do the coverage.

Last night we moved the computer up on the loft, right next to the race director, and this will greatly improve our ability to get the heat-by-heat results.

I am very fortunate to have had Tess Miller volunteer to help out, while I got some much needed sleep. She is not just a very cute young lady, but is an absolute delight to be around. We need more enthusiastic young racers like her in our hobby / sport. Tess has been busy cleaning lanes, taking pictures, AND doing the reporting. Not only that, but while I was away she sold over 50 OWH Raffle tickets!!! Being very new to the hobby, she does not know all of the names of the drivers yet, and they usually only have the first names or nicknames on the computer and even on the entry sheets.

I will fill in the full names above as I get time...

The 2003 Nats "cute couple" - OWH's new cub reporter Tess Miller on the OWH laptop upstairs, with 15 year old pro Greg Mills checking out the OWH. Hate to break Ricardo's heart, but these two have been practically inseperable. Between heats Tess not only types, but runs downstairs to clean Greg's lane!

And now.... the main event! - P.K.

5 - Anders - 540
6 - Horky - 534
7 - Swiss - 534
8 - Rich L - 466

Tess, Paul Meiers, and I have been trying to get a good picture of Beuf, as he is blowing bubble gum bubbles while he drives. He is one of the most intense and confident drivers you'll ever see, and it adds a certain something to see him blowing bubbles while leading the race.

Between heats, someone complained that one of the drivers' pit crew left a quarter on the track for a lane marker. Roman announced not to use change, but they could use $20's $50's or $100's, as well as Visa, Master Card, or American Express. ;)

Heat 7

1 - Beuf - 659
2 - Chicky - 656
3 - Korec - 636
4 - Greg - 632
5 - Horky - 625
6 - Swiss - 624
7 - Anders - 623
8 - Rich L - 545

Pro Group 27 Final Results
(results are official - after post-race tech)

1 - Paul "Beuf" Pederson - 754 (New Track Record - old record broken by top 6!)
2 - Paul "Chicky" Ciccarello - 748
3 - Vladimir Horky - 721
4 - Josef Korec - 720
5 - Greg Mills - 718
6 - Anders Gustafsson - 715
7 - Mike Swiss - 708
8 - Rich Liontonio - 622

Beuf won with a comfortable margin, blowing gum bubbles while he cruised to the win. Chicky gave chase but settled in for a comfy 2nd.

The real battle was for the third podium spot, as Korec, Horky, and Greg Mills battled most of the final heat within a lap of each other. Korec had a one lap edge while Horky & Greg were tied, then Horky caught Korec with Greg a lap back.

A crash in the final 30 seconds saw Horky slip ahead as both Korec & Mills were caught in traffic. Greg was off in the lead-on, with braid ruffled, and when the power went off for a track call, Horky and Korec had already lapped him.

Horky nabs 3rd, with Korec a lap down in 4th, and Greg 2 more back in 5th. Meanwhile, Anders Gustafsson was only 3 behind Greg for 6th!

After the race, I asked Swiss what happened, and he said he had a controller malfunction, dropping him out of contention.

A very exciting race! - P.K.

Pro Group 27 Podium - Paul Ciccarello - 2nd, Paul "Beuf" Pederson - 1st, & Vladimir Horky - 3rd

Beuf shares a "Kodak Moment" with his daughter after a dominate win in the Pro Group 27 main event.

You really do need to trim up (delete) some of ther stuff on your webpage.

It takes far too long to download 35 items before the main news item on your page appears. 2 meg of info is overkill :(

Just a friendly suggestion :)

In addition to all the prizes being donated by the manufacturers listed in the post above this one, some truly UNBELIEVABLE items are being donated by individuals like you and me - slot racers who understand the importance of this wild and crazy place and want to show their thanks and support to Mr Paul Kassens, the guy who created it............

Just as a teaser, how would you like to win a COMPLETE G27 PROGRAM, including chassis, bodies, half a dozen setups, and over twenty arms? (some brand new, the rest reconditioned)..................

Then buy some tickets, sparky!!! :D ;)

I will be posting complete descriptions of reader-donated prizes as they arrive, and I'm hoping I can borrow a digital camera so I can post pictures, too.
If anyone would like to show their support for this website by making a prize donation, send me an email and I'll explain how.
(I'm hoping some of you TRUESCALE guys pitch in - don't let the "speed-crazed morons" make you look bad!!! This is YOUR bulletin board, too!)

Just wanted to wish Beuf and Chicky there congrats, But also wanted to give congrats to Larry for his great TQ, Thats a great time on a flat type track. But most of all I would like to offer praise to Greg (The Kid) Mills. This guy is just amazing to me, he has made every (Pro) main he has entered and been right there. We also tend to forget that this guy is only 15 years old. , I like what Mike Swiss says about Greg," He is wise beyond his years "

Greg your amazing

Hey to all. Haha, the nats are great. Sorry I wasn't here today, lol, I spent the day lazying at the hotel. I did not get the chance to see the cover of the imca page, sorry guys. But I will be here tomorrow to see the pro 7 event. I have so many people to thank right now that I must wait until I get home because otherwise I would be taking up the phone line here all night. And yes, Greg is not only an amazing racer, he is an amazing pit person as well. He stays cool in all situations, and he knows his sh*t too!!! It's amazing how much he has crammed into his head about slot cars in such a short amount of racing time. I guess that PA isnt given as much credit as he deserves though. Greg knows everything he does because of PA. Anyways, I'll stop rambling on and talk to everyone later. Can't wait for my next race....Tess
