Any tricks or tools for removing severely stripped
( the allen part) set screws from wheels? I cant find a screw extractor like an ez out small enough.

you can try to drill it out.
the set screw hole is stripped right? if so, take a small flat-head screw driver pull it out that way.
or you can throw the tire away :p ;)

Try a GOOD, allen wrench with a hardened ground tip, like a Parma, JK or similar. They are a little expensive, around $8 USD, but well worth the money. You can remove most any stripped set screw with one of those wrenches.
Word of caution, DO NOT PULL THE WRENCH SIDE TO SIDE! It WILL break, and then the piece with the screw is pretty much junk!

If the set screw is in a hub that sticks out from the wheel's rim, use a cutoff disk in a dremel & cut a slot across the set screw hole & into the set screw. Then take a straight-bladed screwdriver & turn the screw out. If this is a full hub tire, don't even bother.

And throw away those POS hollow set screws and replace with GOOD cup point screws.
No matter what those "Pro Racer" types wanna tell you,YOU WILL NOT see a difference on ANY laptimer on this or any other planet!

I've been getting those from my wife for years!
Seriously, get a good wench, I mean wrench, and never worry about stripped screws again! :D

I'm just trying to salvage some old ( vintage ) wheels, gears and axles. They have been stuck for a long time. I do have a good allen wrench but these are just rounded out too bad. I'll probably throw some away, but I agree about the obviously soft metal these screws ( and most presently made ones ) are made from.
Thanks!

I assume your wheel is still locked on the axle. Remove the axle from your car, support the back of the rim on both sides like slipping the axle through a vice and then take a small (smaller than your axle) punch and tap you axle out. After the axle is removed it should be quite easy to remove the bad set screw.
Contrary to Fomey I always use hollow set screws in my Speedshop tires. I have found you can crank on the hollow set screw harder without the wrench end (inside) stripping out. In fact you will most likely strip the rim before the set screw.
The real problem here is bad tire wrenches. You should be using a Huddy wrench, they are by far the best wrench on the market today.

And if it is still stuck, you need to find or MAKE an easy out for our unfrendly setscrew. Take an old drill or tap and grind it square and small .. taper it at the end to that it will go into the hole. TAP it in tight and back your setscrew out.. An old broken #2 tap works good for this...HMMM maybe someone should grind op a batch to sell???

I'll have to try that, sounds good. Someone should make and sell those since there are tools for everything else! The stripped allen head set screw remover. $11.99
