timing on s16d

i was wondering what the pros and cons are of advancing and retarding the timing on these motors

advancing it will make the motor faster but make a get hotter on the track

Reatarding it makes is slower and cooler

do you turn clockwise or counter clockwise when looking head on with the endbell to advance it?

if your lookin at the endbell with the two Lead post for the lead wire you turn it clockwise to advance.
