What is the best height in your opinion? Some have suggested 32, others 40". Just wondering. About to begin construction tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!

For a home slot car track, the same height as a pool table, 32" is a pretty safe bet. You'd have to think that there's a good reason that pool tables are that height.
Of course, you should take into account any personal preferences and variables when making your decision - such as: Will small children be racing on the track often? How hard is it to reach to turn marshal any inside turns? Will visibility be a problem? Do you plan to drive standing up, sitting, or both? If sitting, do you have "bar" stools that would sit up to the table comfortably? Do you have any existing tables that may be used for the layout - or to extend it in the future, that you may want to match height?
Commercial tracks are usually much lower, but that is different, as you need to be able to reach accross 8 lanes.
For a home track, I would think that sticking with right around 32" would be suitable.
My home track is at about 34" - because it is on a board that sits ON TOP of the pool table. :D

He's got How-To articles on track building, table building, wiring, etc.
Most of what applies to HO slot car track & table building also applies to 1/32 tracks as well.
