    Saturday - Notes

A lot more racers were showing up throughout the day Friday, and more have arrived today.

Trevor Rosenburg from Toronto is on DAY 3 now without his luggage - no clothes - NO SLOT CARS!

The Port Jeff Gang showed up this AM - and they are not happy campers. The box with all their tools and supplies is lost. Doug says approx $10,000 worth of equipment may be in that box, and without it - it will be very tough for their entire crew to even race. Doug & Jason Bauer, Erkle, Hurricane Larry, Jonathan Sohl, and Joe SSS all flew in together from NY.

Mike Steube is here again today. I got to spend a couple hours last night hearing many stories of the old days of racing from Mike, who has been like an idle to me all my life. He can hardly believe that he was held in such high regard in the history of this hobby since his absence, but he has frequently been dubbed as the best of the best in the history of this hobby / sport by many who have raced against him in the past.

There are a number of racers here who were involved in slot cars back in the 60's, and so there have been a lot of reunions and introductions, accompanied with so many stories of raceways and races over the years.

There are 31 entries in the Amateur Group 12 race. Bob Lucky from Saskatoon Sascatchewam Canada won concours again with an identical car that he won with yesterday.

Qualifying was fast, with 3 racers breaking the old track record. Joe Chevy wound up TQing, setting a new Track Record 2.3757 - but I checked my chart and it was just .002 shy of Ian "Goat Boy" Tomlinson's 2.373 last year at the Tulsa Nats.

The Quarter Finals are under way now, so I'm getting the photos posted and will update the results at the top of this thread as each Quarter and Semi is done. For the main - I will be posting lap totals after each heat again.

Don't forget - there's TONS of cool prizes in the OWH Mammoth Raffle 6 prize fund - and you can still get your tickets now via PayPal, or even by snail mail!

I see Ben Martinez qualified 5th, but ran in the D Quarter. What happened?

Everybody runs in the Quarter Finals - even TQ Joe Chevy, who is leading the A Qtr right now - still in progress.

With 31 entries, the way the format is run, there are no sit-outs.

The top 4 out of each Quarter Final moves up to the A or B Semi.

Good job guys.. Thanks to OWH

Well I'm home winging bodies. Getting my daughter's ready for the start of school on Monday. Arriving at B/park Sunday evening to set up and settle in. Congrats to Chevy on the TQ lap. Sam Rackham on the podium 2nd. Josh and especially Adam on the good run. He's put in countless hours of time in the past year and looks like he had a shot today. Sometimes you need a little luck.. Hope you all are having fun and to Paul "OWH" thanks for this little site so many of us racers enjoy.. Pat

Congrats on making the mains in Am. box Fred, Thats a good start for your first trip to the nats. Sounds like you ran into some trouble in the main. Good luck to you and Lyn for the rest of the week, we'll be watching the results. ( You set the bar pretty high for Lyn in his first race.)
