Heat 5 - tension running very high as there was a heated discussion regarding a penalty issued for a lane marker not being used.

Several warnings were given that if there was no lane marker down, that the car would be put back after the lap counter.

Bill V shut the power off after counting 7 lane markers during the break, and had Earl's car moved after the counter.

Benny argued that there WAS a lane marker, but just not in the correct lane. A heated exchange between Benny & USRA Director Chris R ensued, regarding whether it was in the rule book or not.

    No fight - just words

    The race resumes.....

During a tech break in heat 7, tensions were again running high.

Reggie Coram broke the tension when he added: "It's all that new foreign rubber in the air - makes everyone crazy!"

That broke up the entire room with laughter.

    Adam Friedman
    Brad Friesner

They have had numerous discussions regarding the rapid tire wear last night and this AM, and they had a meeting to explain that there will be frequent mid-race inspections to prevent cars running so low they damage the track.

The other issue with the tire wear has been where the rubber goes. The rubber builds up as "marbles" on the track very rapidly, so the cars gradually have a harder and garder time getting through it.

The A Semi is in progress now....
That is because they are using qualifing tires to race. Smart move if you have enough of them to change every heat.
