Cruzin the '06 SCR Scale NATS - RACE DAY 1 OF 6

Race Day 1 Raceway open @ 7 AM. 1/32 tech closes @ 9 AM; Amatuer GT 12 w/handout motors 9:30 AM, tech close 11 AM; Expert GT 12 tech closes 4:30 PM.

Welcome to RACE DAY and on behalf of Frank Sarkela, Slot Car Raceway owner, we welcome you to day 1 of 6 days of fine slot car competition!

The skies of beautiful and extremely green Rohnert Park, CA are brilliant blue and although there's a chill in the air, who cares...we'll be locked down in a pit of whining motors and voices I had the heater on early but quickly turned it off as racers filled premises quickly.

9:15 AM 1/32 tech closed with 20 entries! Yea buddy!! Franks Happy! Looks like the most in a few years.

GT 12 Amatuer has 17 thus far.

HOLD THE PHONE! Who walks in the door 30 minutes after tech closes but TRACY CHIN The plot thickens, the story has taken a more exciting look with Tracy low riding his fishing hat and looking viscious! He hails the crowd and begs for acceptance...Don't know about acceptance but there's no denying his entry. Another wildcard is dealt.

    Eurosposrt Qualifying -

Mark Manion is first up and TQ's with a 3.8" lap. Paul G is up and sets down with a blistering 3.3695!

    New TQ Greg G 3.256.

The racing was divided into 3 7 racers mains. Fred won the A main handily with 2nd place taken by Peter Verelo very late in the 8th heat from Mark Manion. Fred's 74.4 lap avg should be in the top 5, says me!

Joe Carr leads the B main with Jason Stone & the infamous Tracy. James Grinstead also looks fast.

The GT 12 Amatuer program is looking very good with 25 entries!

The A main is so much faster than the C & B. James started on the inside lanes (toward black) and has led from the start (now going into heat 4). Paul G is 3 laps back with Greg another 3 back followed by George Russell, Frank & Chris. Alan has left the building...starting heat 4 George passes Greg for 3rd.

Heat 6 Herman on White, Paul on Blue, Greg on purple and Paul took the lead for a moment as he & Herman play tag. Greg & George are lurking, biding time and all are racing extremely well. Nice clean race.

    Smile Cooperative effort!

Huray, Paul & I are working together! To see offical results go to http://www.oldweirdherald.com/slotca...threadid=16332 for Pauls "Almost Live" coverage.

The program is proceeding nicely w/o a hitch! Well, except that Paul is busy recording info near the race director's booth and then scooting (aka bootie bumpin) outside to get bandwidth for transfer

That's not a picture of Bob Scott, that is a picture of actor Raymond Massey playing Abe Lincoln.

I wonder if we should make it a condition on bidding for the Nats that the track have wireless internet access?

Also I was trying to figure out how to order the T-shirt from the raceway website, but it doesn't look like you can!

(added) Thanks Bob for the ordering info- I sent my order in by fax.

I was thinking of the Uncle Sam character in one of the early Porky Pig cartoons. Looks just like Uncle Sam...
