    Re: USRA Scale Nats Meeting

But I will share the results of the officer elections and the 2007 Scale Nats host site selection.
    . . .
    Scale Comm Dir: Greg Wells
    !!!!

I didn't even know I was on the ballot!

Geez, I was hoping Scale Comm Dir wasn't a "Hotel California" position . . .

How bad a job do I need to do to make certain I won't get nominated again??

    8-)

Oh, well, from all the proposals that passed, it sure looks like I'd better schedule a LOT more time to get the 2007 Rulebook ready. LOL!

Congrats to Keystone and Mark, they have a great place and all, but in the rules its states that the only way a raceway can get back to back Nats is if no other track bids on the Nats. As for Slot Zone the windsor should have had no effect on the results as the 2 tracks we were going to use was the King and Englmen which have less banking then the King used last year at Keystone so the eurosports and others should have no problem running on either track. Its very disapointing for us as well as the other raceways who spend time and money biding on the Nats if you are just going to give to the same raceway that had it the previous time. Its a good old kick in the a$$ for a raceway as new and top of the line as ours to be the first raceway eliminated. Anyway now that I vented a little enjoy the rest of the race week and good luck to all

I can understand your feelings, but Keystone had the Nats in 2005 and now in 2007. That is not back to back.

The rules don't require having a flat track either ( unless this was voted in at the 2006 meeting ), but most scale racers will vote forst for the location that has a flat track versus "banked" tracks.

Vent on....... It might make ya feel better.....

"Back to Back" means that they would have gotten it 2 years in a row. That is not the case here. Keystone had it in 2005, then in 2006 it was Rhonert Park, then Keystone got it again for 2007. the rules were followed correctly.

Those big turns at the end of the straight on both your Engleman and King are very banked. The Euro guys just don't seem to care for high speed banked turns...nature of the beast I'm afraid.
There are "Racers" and there are "Talkers".....which one are you?

Its one turn on each track which other then that trun are flat
Being back to back I thought to beleive that it would apply to coasts. That not the same track that held it on the east coast would get it again when it returned back to the east coast the following year. If I am wrong in thinking this then thats my fault

Well, personally, I do race eurosports whenever we have a race in So Cal, and I'd rather be on a completely flat track. I've race on an Engleman before, and it was fun, but its just not the same. Eurosport guys want a track with a higher level of difficulty, as it creates more competition.

That rule is in reference to having back to back Nats in the same region and adjoining regions two years in a row.

Example....... Track A gets Nats for 2007. At the 2007 meeting, no other tracks bid for Nats, then Track A could host Nats again in 2008.

Another example..... Being the 2007 Scale Nats is being held at Keystone in 2007, no tracks in the same region can bid for 2008 Nats...UNLESS no other tracks bid for Nats in another region. If this was to happen, then bids would be accepted from tracks within the same region and the Nats would be held in the same region two years in a row.

Now that the 2007 Nats are being held in PA, no other tracks in the following states will be allowed to bid for the 2008 Scale Nats; Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Deleware, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Conneciut, Rhode Island or Maine UNLESS no other region/raceways bid.

This is to encourage the Nats to rotate around the country and not get "stuck" in one area of the country for a extended period of time.

Nah, I raced on the old Uncle Kals Korkscrew...I still hold the fast lap record on that track...

But I wouldnt mind running backwards on a King...

    Backwards...

can be fun on any track. It just depends on how the track flows. They routinely race backwards on the Engelman at Need for Speed Raceway in Manchester NH. That includes Indys to Eurosports. The track flows very well and there is usually less damage to the cars.

I have also raced backwards on "The Track" in Gaithersburg. Again, the turns are layed out so smoothly that it is almost as fast backwards as it is forwards....

2 Really Great Tracks in great raceways....
