    Congrats to all the winners...

and the participants who made it to Rohnert Park.

Thanks to Frank Sarkela for keeping me fed and hydrated while race directing the Amateur GTP race.

And thanks to "Mr. Pickle", more commonly know as Paul Gawronski for providing those fine sandwiches all week.

Wish we could have seen a few more racers from East of the Mississippi, if you East Coasters want the Western and Mid Western guys to come support your races, you've gotta do the same.

Whoever brought the flu virus into the building, 100 lap penalty at your next race...;^)

I'd like to personally thank the nice guy who helped me fix the tire on my motorcycle, sorry I have competely blanked out on your name but thanks for the help.

Looking forward to next year and to helping Bill V. with the technical stuff in the coming year too.

Rumor has it that I might start up with those pesky Eurosports cars in the coming year too. God help us all.

    Wow,

definately some great racing. I had lots of fun as usual and I'm sure others did as well. I think SCR put on a great race. I would like to thank Paul Garownski and Brian Saunders with help on my Euro car and of course Chicky and team Parma for all there help. I have raced for other teams, but none were as good as Parma and Paul is the best when it comes to slot cars. I'm sorry I couldn't get the Parma car in first, but we had some great races with it. I can't wait until next year. Thanks to anyone else as well that helped in any way.

Just a quick word as well about the 1/24 Euro race:

In the A main I saw some racing that was simply ridiculous and I can't beleive how good Paul Garownski is to have to go through what he did and still win. He is the best and some of those racers in that race really need to grow up. I'll leave it at that.

    Awwwwww Young Grasshopper.........

What attentive eyes and ears you have. Be sure to use them in your future slot racing endeavors. Now watch your back as well as who your next to on the track.

Could some one key-up Aerosmith's song " Same Old Song and Dance" please. LOL

It takes a hell of a man to put into print what you just did Jonathan....... not bad for a youngster either.

    Good job Jonathan!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I saw one guy stop to let Paul by in the 90 while Paul was on the inside and he did this about 7 times and then others being told not to let him go and so forth. It is ridiculous, especially when it was done to me at Portland. After that race I was yelled at by a certain individual for not taking Paul out umm in my opinion if he had the courtesy to ask to go by and the man that was yelling at me didn't nor did his racers why wouldn't I let him by. Some people in this world amaze me. Just to metion to the people thta seem to do all this dirty and ridiculous racing, just seem to be the lackies and not the contenders. Even in the B main I had trouble and you can ask Frank S. as well.

    Just giving my opinion.

    Why, why, why??

If one racer was deliberately taking out other cars, why was he not 'black flagged' by the Race Director?

Is this type of behaviour condoned in Scale racing on the West Coast?

    Re:Brake check...

    Johnathan:

I was standing (right behind where you were marshaling) and just saw some racing rubbing. All the drivers could be heard talking to each other. Paul was even smiling and joking as he knew he got tagged a few times by driving error or mistake. I heard Paul mention to Gregg that he was driving the worst he'd seen him drive in yellow and black but that was it.
The ninety and lead on are pretty well free game for a brake check... thats racing. Aside from home track advantage Paul had the advantage being on the inside even if they both stopped in the corner.
I saw him get taken out more times by Tracy Chin in more than one occation than any of the other drivers....so what sucks more. I also saw Paul get put on first in the donut after it became a crashfest there after the sixth and fifth heat. It got really ugly in the sixth and seventh and the outcome of the race was decided in the donut. Some cars just sat there and got hit as marshal coouldn' keep up. Whenever there are more than five cars desloted at the same time it gets ugly unless you have a marshal that is fast.
The ealier C-12 mains races were by far a much cleaner and faster race that the A main Eurosport. As to whether or not high downforce bodies had something to do with it I just know they seem faster and cleaner racing. Fast lap times in C-12 were consistanly faster for a number of drivers.
As for the Seattle contingent we were there to race not distroy our equipment. Smack talk does go on during the final heats and that is what it is just smack talk. There was no instructions to take anyone out in fact we all agreed to stay away from Paul if we could. No one person gave the order. No grassy knoll. Mistakes do happen though. The race got cleaner when there were some out for repairs in the final heat. Some darn good diceing went on then.
Mark you crack me up. Congrads on the 07 Nats.

I'm just going by what I saw and what racer decides to let another racer go by in the ninety every time he catches him. Why not the straightaway as for Greg, Herman, and Paul they had no problems together they just raced, it was the other people in that race that were racing inmaturely. Whatever I don't care anymore it definately isn't the first time it has happened because I have been told in the past to take out Paul and I didn't, but I guess some people listen to that man that tells people to take out the opposing side like that, and it is a shame they do. Maybe Tracy did take out Paul, but it wasn't intentional I'm sure I accidentally took out Chicky and Alan Ohren on occasion to, but it's not like I was trying to destroy there race. Raymond I'm not occusing you of anything just a couple of other racers that don't make it fun to race.

I got home late last night and slept like a baby.

The only thing good that usually comes out of controversy (besides entertaining Ron H and some others) is if constructive solutions can come out of the discussion.

I'm really a bit surprised and dissapointed in the above discussion, especially from my good friend Raymond. It's very unusual for him to complain like that. This discussion is nothing but sour grapes, and I agree with Ron VW. Get over it, or take it private - it's spilled milk and a lot of heresay.

I also heard some grumblings about "team tactics" etc. and although I realize it exists, it embarrrasses me. Everyone is out there to win, and for the most parts, I was impressed by the sportsmanship. The really GOOD racers subscribe to the Golden Rule, and know that what goes around comes around.

Remember - with European rotation, you are on everyone's inside once and then on their outside once (too bad it doesn't work out quite that way in round robins, however).

The ones who crash create traffic for everyone, and the good racers always seem "lucky" to avoid the wrecks.

I don't believe in luck. It ain't "luck" that Paul Gawronski avoided more wrecks then others, went faster, or made more laps. Paul simply outdrove the rest. He won because he EARNED IT.

Some very top competitors like Greg Gilbert and Herman James were fast, but had some bad "luck" this time (whatever happened - they crashed), and so Brian Saunders cruised to a very well deserved 2nd, and Alicia Gilbert surprised nobody (but impressed all) by coming in 3rd. Nobody made any comments this year about being beaten by a "girl" - she has long ago earned the respect as being a top competitor.

I'm not recovered enough yet to really write my post Nats thoughts... but overall there were very close races, great competition, tons of comraderie, and a whole lot of fun! Everyone made more friends and met more fellow slot racers, and there were plenty of laughs to go along with the congradulations.

I'd have to say... that the race that actually stands out in my mind the most was the least attended one - the Pro 4.5" NASCAR race on Saturday night. Everyone was so worn out and sleep deprived that it was more like a party then a race. There was nearly as much laughter as during the "King of the Hill" race, combined with some good racing as well. Duran kicked everyone's butts, but everyone still had a great time.

    And no sour grapes.

All I was trying to say was that Paul drove a great race and overcame alot to win. He had people out to get him and he overcame that and won the race. All I was doing was congradulating him and everyone takes it the wrong way.
