Just to clarify with everyone the James Grinstead mentioned is not me. It is my father Jim Grinstead who originally came to pay the tab. We are proud of his accomplishments in his second time ever driving a wing car

    Nice job DDDDDDerek!

    What's this? Mini-Gugu followed by Mini-Roman???

It looks like "Spec 15 - The Next Generation"!

I guess for this hobby to grow - if we can't "bring 'em", then we'll just have to "breed 'em"!

Congrats to all Spec 15 racers! 13 racers is a good field and it looks like it was very good racing!

And Derek - maybe you don't need a template after all... with the new board it makes it so much easier to make BOLD titles, etc. - it looks excellent the way you posted it. (still good to type on a txt doc, then copy/paste - so you have backup in case it times out or the board crashes).

When I have done the "Almost Live" coverage, it has always been on a shoestring budget, and it really can be a lot of work, even when I'm not racing. Nats racers have often shown their appreciation on many occassion by buying my lunch, a soda, a beer, or even dinner. It not only helped tremendously, but it meant a lot more to me then I could express. I am hoping that some of the Nats racers this year will extend some of that same generosity and appreciation to Derek, for taking the time to help provide the coverage this year.

Those at home can show their support and appreciation by buying OWH Raffle #9 tickets! Besides helping to keep OWH online all year long, the Raffle helps to make OWH "Almost Live" Nats coverage possible. Your Raffle ticket purchases will help towards Derek's expense of being there all week long posting these race results - which is only fair compaired to the cost of us OWH readers (me included this year!) who could not make the trip in person.

OWH is read daily by thousands of slot car enthusiasts from over 50 different countries - all over the world. The USRA Nats is THE highlight of competative commercial slot car racing, and it is with great pride that we provide and share this coverage here on Old Weird Herald.

I will have more details about the OWH Raffle #9 posted in a seperate thread and prize gallery.

Thanks Derek - keep up the good work - and good luck in your racing!

    PK @ OWH HQ

    P.S. to kamekrazy:

I want Derek to post the race results to the top post in every thread - just as he has done here. As he updates with Consi / Semi / and Main results, you will need to hit "refresh" for the updates.
If you want to know the time of the latest post - look at the " Last edited by DDDDDDerek : Today at 06:52 PM." at the bottom of the post.

This way - you don't have to scroll all through pages of posts in long threads to see all of the results, especially in threads full of "tell so-and-so hi", or "go Chubby!", or "congrats" posts, etc... I have been asked to do this over the past few years and it has worked out MUCH nicer then when posting updates in a new post.

Make sense??? I hope so - it really does work out better. I hope you understand once you know the reasons behind the methods...

As Paul said it makes it so much quicker to see the results instead of going 5 pages for one race.

2nd place in the Semi was great...

    Then last in the main?

Did he break - or his pit crew fall apart? (just kidding )

I'll bet that now James & Zac have a bit better idea of how their dad feels while watching them race!

It's great to hear that "Big Dog" Jim Grinstead got talked into racing again. I know he enjoys it most by supporting his son's racing - but nothing like getting involved first hand to really share the experience!

Who got to hold onto the little dog while dad raced????

I moved the 3 posts about Jim Grinstead (the dad) in the Spec 15 race, that were in the main sticky thread - here to the Spec 15 thread...

Sorry if they seem a bit jumbled now, but they were referring to the Spec 15 race, and later on that would not be so clear.

    It's all relative... LOL

Looks like a mouse in Jim's arms, but a beast next to Forrest.

Whatever Forrest lacks in vertical dimensions, he more then makes up for in speed.

Josh - I'd hate to see how Forrest gets back at you when you pick on him! Pierced jewelry could make great handles for pulling you down eye to eye I'll bet!

Oh i know Forrest is fast, and how fast is just impressive, lol

However, one of the various sacrifices i made for a new job was the loss of the lip ring. Besides, Forrest never would of been able to reach it anyways

Forrest and I always go at it, making fun of each other at every single opportunity we get

But, when push comes to shove, I got the lil man's back, and i know he'd have mine if i gave him a chair to stand on LOL

Last time I asked Jim about being a wing car racer he DENIED it! Guess there's no denying it now

Good to see you out on the track and not just paying the kid's tabs!

    Best regards, Mike K.

    Thumbs up Thanks!

A long list of thank yous too follow:
Roman,JD,Mimi,Nan,and Mrs. Nan,great track, great store, great hospitality,no one could ask for any more than you delivered.

David Key for busting his butt in an attempt too make silk purses out of handout sows ears. I don't think anyone could have done better in the time we had and what he had too work with. I really appericiate your help.

Mike Iga and Jeff Bechtel for jumping in and helping with the glue and tweaking the car, each lane was better and easier thanks to your help, some of the old Tri-State type help is always appericated. I'm sorry I fell short on the move up(should have taken that Jordan kid out when I had the chance)

Also thanks too the Grinstead family for doing the USRA sign ups,the handouts and the tech.Getting thrown in the deep end and doing the excellent job you did was awesome.

Congrats to Catcars, Jack Pearson of West Palm Beach

Concours in Spec 15 and sixth overall with a runt motor first time out.
You had some stuff in the Am GP12, as well, but no luck.
We commend you for going and doing it.
You have been involved in practically the whole history of (commercial) slot car racing from the 60's, when your Dad had Hobby Racing (the best and our favorite track in WPB), to current. And now you've participated at the highest competitive levels, local to National. Kudos to you.
    Beware.....bigger classes mean bigger budgets.

From your racing buds in Florida, the Wandrei, Pearson & Brady racing team.
