    I was informed today that Jon has lost his battle with cancer.

    Rest in peace my friend.

    That's terrible news.

    Jon was one of the best in his day and I feel privileged I got to compete
    against him as often as I did.

    Jon was a very special person indeed. It is not a coincidence that my son's name is Jon with no "h". Rest In Peace my friend.

    Jon

    Fred Hood informed me earlier today that Jon ruptured his aorta (the largest blood vessel in the body) while talking on the phone with his sister. And that he was only 55 years young.

    Jon was a really good guy as well as being a really competitive racer. I think I last saw and spoke with him at the 2007 Nat's at the Track!

    Another great one gone. I only have good memories of Jon racing at one of my raceways. He and the rest of The Purple Gang.
    RIP Jon.

    It was great to see Jon at the 2007 NATS. Although he was a terrific racer, I think he will be remembered as the greatest corner marshall of all time!

    We all have such fond and competitive memories of Jon. He was an Ambassador of Our Hobby and Sport. He will be missed by many whom have had the pleasure and honor to race with such a fine gentleman.

    I've spoken with Jon's sister this morning and she informs me that there will be a viewing at Whitten Funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

    Whitten is;

    She also informs me that there will be another service in Maine (where his mother resides and where he will be interred) in mid to late Sept or Oct. The date is not set as yet.

    The family asks that in leiu of flowers a donation be made to the Appalachian Trail Fund
