    Nickname Butchery!

    Aw Mom!

I've been laying off this thread so far 'cause all the best names were from NorCal, and I thought Al Chuck would catch it soon enough.

At least, you gotta get 'em right! Gung Fung WAS the nickname. The lad was actually Gene Fong. Wheel Wells also went by Chuck, interesting enough since he shared an apartment with Al. Jim Aguirre was also called Jims Brown, a concession to his complexion. I'm not absolutely certain, but I think Hippo Crit might have been the label carried by master body painter Keiji Kanegawa. NorCal racers were apparently not allowed to compete under their own names.

Finally, Foamy is one James Dennis Hill (use the middle name unless you're mad at him), and I'm thinking it was bestowed on him by Bob 'Motormouth' Johannis, the San Diego Charger. Yes he was odd enough for two! As long as we're talking of greater San Diego racers, there is also Joe 'Chevy' Cormeir.

My alltime favorite though, from Arizona, Dave Fortner, known as Shagnasty!
