Thumbs up Pacific Slot Car Raceways weekly womp 16 & under results

This a new post but is to show appreciation of our new weekly race program for kids 16 & under racing womp womps on our 90 foot Ogilvie reverse donut Hillclimb. These are a blast on our small track !! and the kids are just GREAT !!

Tonight was our 2nd race and we went from 3 racers to 8 this week with loads more interest...Just wait until Santa Claus comes with presents in a few weeks.

    Tonight we had:
    Madison 7 years old 1st place in 11 & under 189 laps
    Zach 10 years old 2nd "" 186
    Kaylie 8 years old 3rd " " 182
    Kyler 5 years old 4th " " 159
    Preston 4 years old 5th " " 130
    Corinna 8 years old 6th " " 122 laps
    Aiden 5 years old 7th " " 117 laps

Ian 16 years old +/- 1st place 12 to 16 year old division 199.99 laps ( inches from 200 laps)

This is just plain fun racing. We are trying something a bit different here. Our goal is to promote fun as you may had read elsewhere in our new online store thread. My goal is to keep slot racing alive and getting kids interested is crucial. To that end we are offering $ 2.00 race entries ( yes two dollars). With that they get 1 hour of warm up from 5-6 pm then a full 8 heat race and everyone gets a prize in the end. How can we do that you ask......hmm my secret... can you say loss leader ?? I am willing to subsidize this to get these bundles of excitement exposed to our passion of racing slot cars

Thanks Gary, I was also the race director so I didn't get as many pictures as I would like to have. There is a great picture of GranPa Fester working on EACH of the kids cars at sign up to prep them and show the kids and parents some basics. You gotta see it and their attention is so cute. It is on the home page of PSCR. Hope to see you this weekend for another round of the NW challenge series 2 day event for big kids (hehe) and our scale cars. With that power and handling you have come up with you may need to run 10 foot of choke so the rest can keep up. Happy Holidays and hope to see many of you this weekend at Pacific Slot car Raceways in Edgewood, WA.

Jim, Thanks for posting this from our home page. These lil folks are SO AWESOME to be a part of as they enjoy what most of us treasure as memories of our younger days. We have been open for over a year and just recently decided to make this race program for kids. I do not care about the fact that it is only $2.00 entry fee. For me as the owner of the racetrack the internal pleasure of seeing these young folks get so much fun out of slot car racing is just plain AWESOME !! I hope we can continue to expand this program. I have some plans for the future because their dad's are just chompin to play too. I have some plans for a team race with these cars where father or mother and child race in a team. I am so excited about how slot car racing levels everything and we can just compete equally with others regardless of age.

Hope to expand this program to expose more people in the hobby/sport we enjoy so much.

Big John, Thank you for the kind words. We miss your presence, do you have any travel plans in the future to visit the Evergreen state ? Our birthday party program has expanded in a big way and I truly enjoy these lil folks having the fun that those of us "older kids" remember from our youth. Advertising for a slot track is a tough thing and between birthday parties and this young racer program may be what our sport/hobby/passion needs to keep it alive as we move on as we pass it on to the next generations. Our online store is taking hold and we at PSCR are excited about the future. As you know it would not be possible without dedicated volunteers like Dan Parris, Jim Radford, Sarah Parris, Jeff Sweeney, Cheryl Sullivan, and Dave Hansen. THERE IS NO WAY TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE OTHER THAN TO TRULY SAY " THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!"

Thumbs up Awesome turnout !! More entries and growing

We had a bigger turnout of junior racers than last week. This brand new program is growing every week. Heck we even had several dads that wanted their own turn at racing Womps on the reverse Hillclimb. Check out the coverage below and get even more info on our website at: www.pacificslotcarraceways.com

More entries than each of 3 prior weeks

The parents get into the racing as much as the kids

After the 11 & under race the lil ones came out to marshall the bigger kids (of all ages)

The girls are a tough force to beat

Meagan (Paul Kassens granddaughter) knows where to celebrate her 6th birthday

Podium finishers in the 11 and under diivision

    12 & over podium finishers

A Great time was had by all and the parents were some serious pit crews !!

This is the future of slot car racing !!

( PS Paul your grand daughter is a real cutie ! )

When my son Kris (aka OWH Jr) called me after the Womp race, he sounded SO excited - Meagan & Kris had a great time at the race!

While they are still planning to have a racing birthday party at a later date, I was so happy that she got to go there and race in her first slot car race on her actual 6th birthday!

You didn't mention that besides being my granddaughter - Meagan is also the granddaughter of 2010 Flats 1/24 Eurosport Champion Gary (GearBear)!

Meagan has slot cars in her blood, since both her parents, and both grandpas have been slot racers.

Grandpa Gary bought Meagan a brand new Womp for her birthday, so it was way cool that she got to race it right away!

I'm also happy that you guys persuaded Kris (OWH Jr) to come out of retirement to race! He sounded like he had won his first race ever, when he told me he won the "big kids" race... LOL (even if he did beat the actual 12-16 official winner by just 3 laps). You might even have to add an adult Womp class if more parents keep wanting to race!

Who knows... maybe Kris will have to dust off some of my cars and come racing again soon! Kris raced slot cars growing up, but I think he's only raced once in the past 8 years... Maybe he'll have to dust off his Womp Series Champ plaque to show Meagan, from Speedway & Hobby Too in Kent back around 1987! LOL Since then he was a very competitive PNW AMCA racer for many years, and also attended 4 or 5 USRA Nats events with me... so I was happy to hear he had fun! Heck - I used to change Kris' diapers under the track between races at West Seattle Speedway & Hobby! (but that was at least a few years ago! LOL)

When I saw the pics you posted... well, I cried... tears of joy!

Thanks for taking such great pictures - that one of Meagan with her crown was priceless! While I wish I could have been there - your pictures really let me enjoy it all the way from the Philippines!

Thanks also for putting on such a great race program, and for showing them such a great time!

I couldn't have dreamed of a better Christmas present, then to see pics of my son & granddaughter racing slot cars.

I am so thrilled that your Wed Womps has taken off so well! I truly hope that it continues to grow, and that other parents can also experience the joy of seeing their kids & grandkids enjoy this great hobby!
