Charlie
Hey Charlie,
I really enjoyed racing and B.S.ing with you and Mike. Glad to hear that you guys are coming back in two weeks for our ISRA USA Great Lakes Region series race. Maybe we can spend a little more time over at Roundheads after the series race.
No sour grapes here regarding your choice for B-production Concours. It is what it is. But, since you asked, Ricky D's paint job was "COOL".
That being said, the award was supposed to be for 1st place in conccours, not 1st place in "COOL". But hey, I'm obcviously a little biased.![]()

B-Production Concours - 1st Place
B-Production Concours - 2nd Place
Couldn't find a picture of Kevin VanPelt's B-Production Concours - Third Place car, but it was very nice too.
See you on the 5th.

Funny you should ask Mike.
I got those from Ruzam Racing. A guy by the name of Mike Mazur makes them. They are very cool, arent they? It's tough to see in the pictures, but they are personalized. Mike can match the color of the brake rotors to your paint scheme. He can also put anything you want on the sidewall of the tire, and the center cap of the wheel. Best of all, they areare reasonably priced.

If you'd like, I can give you Mike's number.![]()

George, Roy had JRL locked up until the racing gods mugged him with 13 seconds to go.
Why do I do this to myself?
Those wheel stickers are COOL! John
Racing now at Wanker Valley Raceway and awaiting puppies!!
Ken, there is the reason you didn't win Concours, your front tire is flat, Remember the judging is usually the preference of that judge(s) and that can deadly as what you may think is sharp, another person may differ on that and choose based on that. Also cars painted by Noose or Jack Beers seem to be a good choice if you wish to win. Their work is exceptional and seem to appeal to almost everyone. Also how long have you been running that paint scheme, maybe reverse the colors to bring attention to it as it is the same as all of your bodies.for some time now. Anyways the car looked good but it was "VANILLA"

Hey Dz,
It's not flat. I just dropped the air pressure down a little in the front tires to loosen the car up a bit.![]()

I understand perfectly that the judge(s) preferences vary considerably. It's all in the eye of the beholder, and it's very subjective.
Charlie came over and apologized to me (in fun) after he judged Concours for B-Production. Of course, I had to give him grief about it. (also in fun) His post and my response to it was just a little more "poking fun" at each other.
For the record, I paint all of my own cars. Jack has not painted bodies for me since way back in the days of Arlington Hobbies.
And yeah, my paint scheme has been pretty much the same for quite a few years. I absolutely love the way it looks. It's kind of like my trade mark. It's unique to me, and my personal taste. I have no intention of changing it around just to bring attention to it. If I win concours once in a while, that's cool. If not, that's just fine.
Jack's paint jobs are very unique to his style as are Noose's and your's. While I certainly do not believe that my paint work is anywhere near the caliber of any of their's or your's for that matter, I do believe that race cars should look like race cars, not custom cars. They should have proper numbers, sponsors, etc. I'm not a big fan of flames, lace, etc. on race cars. Just my opinion.
I put a lot of time and effort in to making my cars look the way I want them to. That's one of the many things that I love about the hobby. Jack, Noose, Chuck Gambo, Brian Maharry, Mike Kaczmarski, you, and some others put a great deal of time in to it as well. I am a huge fan of who ever chooses to put forth that "extra effort".
I'm afraid we will have to dis-agree on this one Dz. I don't think my color scheme is "VANILLA" in any way. I actualy get a compliment or two on it every now and then.
Cheers

No semis, no move ups. One minute qualifying. (best lap)
JRL - 15 entries.
Race 1 = 9th through 15th place qualifiers.
Race 2 = 1st through 8th place qualifiers
Final positions determined by overall laps.
B-Production - 19 entries.
Race 1 = 11th through 19th place qualifiers.
Race 2 = 1st through 10th place qualifiers
Final positions determined by overall laps.
Same format for all races.

Racing notes
With the worlds being here just a few months ago and the USRA Nats two months hence, most of the traveling racers decided not to attend. Still, it was really good event and provided a lot of really close exciting racing.
F1 Eurosport - A few of the locals who have F1 cars could not make it, so the field was short. This was very clean race. Great run by Chuck Gambo. I ran the same SpeedShop prepared car I ran at the worlds, just changed tires and braid. I think the other guys ran their Worlds cars as well.
IRL Rob drove a great race to a well earned win. Got me by two feet in the end. I ran the same car as last year, BOW setup and arm, Speedshop tires, GT1 gears
B-Production This is a very competitive event at the Masters since the classis the very popular here. A lot of good cars in the race. Ricky D. was really strong and a bit unlucky to lose. I ran the same car that finished third last year, BOW motor and arm, JK chassis you see in the photo, speedshop tires, GT1 gears. TQ was also a new track record.
Open 12 The race being 3 minute segments instead of four was not noticed until a few heats into the B race and by then it was too late to do anything about it. Overall, this was a really destructive race and cars were dropping out all over the place. I messed up here and left my practice tires on the car instead of switching to taller race tires before going into tech. There is no minimum rear clearance requirement in this race so I passed tech despite my mistake. After about three heats I knew I was in tire trouble but I decided (wrongly) to try and ride it out instead of changing tires. Looking back, I would definitely have been better off changing tires, but at the time I thought I could hang on for second or third since it was three minutes heats. I managed to do that but, it was second in the A main, not overall. None of us saw the B main racers as a threat until after the race was over (race software did not show overall lap averages or totals). Anyway, Rob and Al were aware they were in the hunt and wisely kept their mouths shut until it was all over.
32 Eurosport This was a really close race between Kevin and me the whole way. We were both running our Worlds cars with only new tires and braid. Kevin drove a very good race to get me by ¾ of a lap in the end
24 Eurosport Lots of crashes in this event but Laura drove a conservative race and stayed out of trouble. She let all the faster guys go by and just made laps and that is what these races are about, making laps. Congratulations to her on a well-deserved win.
