Seeing the makeup of slot cars, their parts, lubricants, tools, electronics, etc., how in the world do you get them on a plane, even in baggage that is checked through? You, know, with all the TSA security concerns, etc.?

When I travel, I just leave the oil and acid flux at home and buy new at the track I am going to race at. A friend built me a nice cardboard shipping box that my slot box fits into then you check your box, sometimes there's tape saying that they have opened it up for a look, other times not. When I do get funny looks is with my carry on luggage, I usually put my controlers, motors and power supplies in my luggage,( in case my checked luggage goes somewhere other than where it's supposed to, or so that the gorillas handling your luggage don't destroy the sensitive stuff) any way usually just a quick explanation is all it takes to be back on your way, I am sure the controlers freak them out the most with a trigger and a bunch of wires. lol.

Only Exp Boxstock can run shunts, not Am.

Thanks for the quick reply john I just saw this and you are correct. The spec 12 class will be a handout motor and only expert box is allowed shunted motors and 5 coil springs.

In Spec12 is there only two approved chassis or are there more and where would I find them?

I've read USRA rules and they say the chassis have to be serialized and registerd, can that be done the day of the race?

Yes, only ProSlot and Koford make the chassis. You'll register the chassis the day of the race.

Tires are bought at the track for spec12 also?

Ed, I believe the entry fee is including one set of tires and the motors are extra. The tires must be bought at the track and will be marked. The set price on the spec tires is set at 12.00 a pair.
