    2012/13 Mid-South USRA Rule Book

    Here it is folks!

The NEW 2012/13 Mid-South USRA rule book is published!

    A little about this book:

Like before, great strides were made to eliminate duplication from section to section. To do this, we start with the most general rules that cover all classes. Then we progressively move to more specific categories.

As an example; If you can't find a rule about a specific dimension for a 4-1/2" chassis, check in the general rules that govern all chassis.

Feel free to pass it to anyone.

Here are links to the web site & rules:

I tried, but could not because the file is too big. I will ask for permission. I used to post a link to a website, but that site is going away, and we dont have a new one yet.

The link in your signature to the SLOTMAN / Mid-South USRA site worked fine, and had the download link to the rule book.

    http://slotman21.tripod.com/

I'll see if I can attach the rule book here...

Well...that didn't work... I have it set at unlimited file size, but then it said it was over the limit of 100k.

I uploaded them to my server so they can be downloaded here:

2012 USRA Mid-South Rules (MS Word doc)

I also saved it as a PDF file:

Thank you, Paul. Just what I was looking for.

As I mentioned..."I used to post a link to a website, but that site is going away, and we dont have a new one yet."

The MS Word filesize was over 300K due to the graphics and formatting. I tried, but couldn't shrink it. When I converted to PDF, the file size went over 700K, which busts your 300K-something limit for acro files. I guess I coulda tried zipping the file.

Thanks again for posting the rules for me

The USRA has several (I'm too lazy to check the map & count them... I think it's 7?) specific regions. It used to be that the regions each had representatives that voted for the upcoming year's Nats host raceway. Now the regional map is still used as a rotational chart for the Nats moving to a different region in consecutive years.

I think the individual regions of USRA have always had some local variations to the national rules, and it has never been stated or enforced that they must follow the complete national rules verbatim if they use the USRA name.

IRRA does have a policy that if a local group uses the IRRA rules, that they must use the complete rules without changes, if they choose to use the IRRA name. This policy ensures consistent rules throughout the country, and makes it easier for racers traveling to different areas or regions.

I personally do prefer the idea of having 1 set of rules that is used everywhere. However... the variations I have seen in USRA rules used in different regions has been so minor that I don't think it has caused any major issues that I know of.

I'm assuming that is what you must be referring to, and I realize you were just trying to be a smart-a$$ and be funny.

Even so... I do think it is better for the hobby and the organizations if we have a consistent and unified set of rules.
When I was discussing this "problem" with Lee Gilbert many years ago, he replied (somewhat sarcastically) "If everyone would just use MY rules, then there wouldn't be a problem!"

I just don't think of the USRA, or any other club or slot car organization, as "THEY". I guess I think of them as "WE".

These are racer run organizations, and we are all racers. If we as racers feel that the rules need changing to improve them, then each organization has procedures for submitting proposals for changes.

I guess the USRA just doesn't have as good of a legal or enforcement team as IRRA. <---- (please note the smileys!!!)
