    Wellington NZ Quake

Hoping that Zippity (Ron T) and all our fellow slot car racing friends and their families at the Wellington Slot Car Club are doing OK.

    Thanks for your concern Paul.

The first temblor on Friday scared the &^%$ out of me. I was sitting at my desk at work on the 9th floor of a 14 floor building.

Last night's 6.5 shake was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. The quake that destroyed many buildings and homes and killed 185 two years ago in Christchurch was a 6.3

Thankfully this latest batch of earthquakes have been located out in Cook Straight, some 30 odd miles south of Wellington.

We were not allowed to go to work today and we have been asked not to go in tomorrow until the engineers and assessors have had an opportunity to thoroughly check out our building.

Other than that, we are fine.

A group of us even went down to the Club raceway tonight to clean and goo the track

I am very glad to hear that you, your friends, and also your track, all made it through what must have been a frightening experience.

I've been through enough earthquakes to know that a 6.5 is one helluva quake.
The ones we've had here in the Philippines have been centered far enough out at sea to not be so bad on land.
