    TSRs

So, just finished another Checkpoint race and had a motor problem that has happened before. While everyone else is doing whatever they can to cool their motors off between heats, if I cool mine off , I lose about two tenths until it heats back up! For about the first minute of every heat I will be dogging around at about a 4.5 and and then it will wake back up and we are back in the 4.2s. Well by this time it's too late and it cost me the move up into the CA A main! Don't know what's doing this. Anybody got an idea?

I`ve experienced the same thing with Hawk 7 and other FK motors.
I think it has to do with the Neo Mags but I`m not smart enough to understand why.
The motor speeds up when the magnets get hot.

Strangest thing is why some motors do and some don`t.

I am finding that the new JK Retro Hawk seems to run better the hotter it gets! Maybe the gearing has something to do with it?

This is why I zapp mine....

Zapping them removes enough Gauss to stop this phenomena.

You should have caught that problem in practice and run a different motor.

I've heard of this before and some guys run their motors on a power supply between heats to minimize the "coming up to speed" delay when the power comes back on.

Thanks guys! Two different cars , two different motors, in two different races. Both were fine in practice and qualifying and this crap didn't start till the race was on. Weird to be trying to keep the heat in when everyone else is trying to cool theirs off!

When the magnets are cooled they produce much more magnetic force but the opposite when they get hot they get weaker.
That means it will spin faster when the motor is hot.

If you pay one more $ you get a longer shaft when you buy a Falcon 7! lol

Usually when you pay more, you feel like you are getting the shaft.

I guess in this case, that is exactly what you are paying more for!

If this cooling them off was a bad thing, why do you see nearly everyone at a race trying to cool off their motors ? ? ?

I know, weird huh? I just know what was going on with my stuff. Doesn't make a lot of sense but I'm quessing it was the magnets. Have some tests in mind to try the next time I'm there.
