FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE …

ANDERSON, IN … Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the best retro racer of all? For the first time in the seven year history of retro slot car racing there will be an answer to that question, as a Retro National Championship Series has been created to crown a ‘KING of RETRO’ in the United States during 2014.

A six-race series, using a racer’s top-four point performances, has been developed to determine a true National Champion in both the Formula One/Indy and Can-Am retro classes. IRRA LLC car specifications, rules, procedures, and bylaws will be used for the series events.

Kicking off the championship chase will be the Inaugural ALL STAR & INVITATIONAL RACE, set for March 1-2 at Route 93 Raceway in Akron, OH. This unique event will take place on the fastest 155 foot original American Raceway-built Blue King track in the world.

Saturday, May 3 the action moves down the road to Canton, OH where Mark’s Model World will host the First BUCKEYE BASH on its tough to tame 161 foot King track built by owner Mark Kitto.

July 19-20 will mark the dates for the Third Annual RACE OF CHAMPIONS at a site to be determined. This popular contest, which features a hand out motor format, has been hosted by Mid-America Raceway in Chicago, IL for its first two outings.

The running of the Fourth Annual RETRO SUMMIT, which continues to grow in stature and attendance, returns to Mark’s Model World on Sat. Sept. 20.

Marking a first for retro racing, REM Raceway in Mentor, OH will stage the Inaugural NATIONAL HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIP on its super fast 155 foot Ogilvie-built Hill Climb track on Nov. 1.

Shontel Howard’s Dallas Slot Cars in Dallas, TX will entertain the series finale on Nov. 29-30 with the First TEXAS TWO-STEP CLASSSIC on her Gary Gerding-built 155 foot Euro-King.

More details concerning the series will be released at a later date.
