Tom- I totally agree about LMP bodies more fun to drive than GTP.
With lower powered motors the GTP bodies are just too much downforce.

These $14 ProSlot FK motors are faster than built 16D`s almost everywhere due to the lighter weight and better handling.
I am done racing 16D`s.

You must have slow 16Ds.

No DZ you`re wrong about this.

A good 16D might be equal or even a bit faster in chute speed but the FK powered car will make faster lap times.
This was proven at the D2 Nats and is true everywhere I`ve raced.

Of course nobody had your special Kelly motors.

$14 motor out of the counter at your local track vs. some unobtanium Team Kelly Motor?

16D`s are dinosaurs as far as I`m concerned.

So to answer watt I believe is your hidden question- "No, not all motors are created equal".

Did I feel these were a good option for a hand-out at this track? Yes.

I felt that these were a very viable option to use. Yes, there were grumblings (as always with motors) heard that ranged thru the usual opinions. I heard of a couple of "push starters" but didn't witness them. Joe's motor definitely was quicker than mine, how much of that could be attributed to car set-up I don't know as I never looked at his car.

Mine was raced with the brush springs on the wrong post, my blind oversight, but ran easily as a representative average motor. As Joe was in both mains probably shows he has good car prep and knows the ins and out of brush and spring set-up.

I feel these motors were represented with the typical bell curve type average. I would use them again for a hand-out race.

This is a comment about 16-d's and the handout $14.00 motors.I have to agree with Mike. I was at the nats with a couple 16-d's I paid around $60.00 each for. I usually build my own stuff but not having raced in around 6 years I wanted to buy current stuff. They were good motors and the only thing keeping my lap times high was my driving. There were two guys pitted next to me that had at least 60 motors (got pictures) in their box and they tested them every minute they were there.Even building them themselves that's an investment of VERY SERIOUS MONEY. I had one LMP with one single motor and was way closer to the fast guys than with the 16-D. The handout class was very competitive and even if you had wanted to test with them you would need maybe 3? You can't buy an armature for a 16-D for $14.00.

While I do not want to add fuel to the debate whether 16ds are obsolete or not , I will say that this is the 1st time since 1969 that I've soldered such a massive boat anchor in the back of one of my cars to go race.

I love the Pro Slot FK motor. What a great motor. I love racing FK motors.

They are just not as fast as a blueprinted 16D by a good motor builder. Just a fact, Mike.
