USRA Div 2 Nats - "Fun Jawn" Qualifying Challenge

2015 USRA Div 2 Scale Nats
    SpeedZone Raceway
    Mt. Holly, NJ
    April 22-26, 2015

Saturday April 25 - "Fun Jawn" Qualifying Challenge fun race - 29 entries

Live Webcast - timing, scoring, & webcam:
    Jersey Devil:
    http://www.speedzonenj.com/devil/

This was a NON-USRA fun race - put on by Andy Wasserman. It was a $5 winner-take-all qualifying challenge race - using a JK winged truck and two tech tools shorting out for a controller and no brakes on black lane!

Chubby had the TQ for a long time, then Gawronski cut him... then Rick Dodge cut Gawronski to win it. Looked like a lot of fun! - photos by Matt Bruce & Jonathan Fosyth.

Wes Pikunis qualifying in the Fun Jawn event. Hard to see here, but Jonathan Fosyth tells me that they used two tech tools shorting out for a controller... no brakes.

Rick "Hollywood" Dodge - winner of Andy Wasserman's "Fun Jawn" qualifying challenge race.

If any of you who were there could post any more information or photos of this race, I would be very interested to hear more!

And hey Andy Wasserman! Would love to know the story behind the name of this race, and how you came up with the format!

P.S. - SORRY for the ginomous truck photos - I had thought they were already resized... and I'm much too tired (or lazy) to go back and resize & repost them now. (deal with it Zippity... LOL)

OK now those guys can beat me using tech tools for a controller.......... I give up! LOL
Looks like a great time. Wish I could have been there.
Why do I do this to myself?

Just yanking your chain, Zip - as noted by the LOL
You often complain about wall-paper sized images on the forum... one of my own pet peeves as well.

Of course you don't race those things... very few, if any people do! That was kinda the point of the race.
Take something really weird or obscure that nobody had raced, stick on the hardest lane on the track, and then take away the controllers and brakes,
and make you drive it by shorting the two wires together. LOL

You toss in a bit of gambling with cash prize on the line... and a lot of pride.... and you've got the formula for a very fun race!

I'd love to see a lot more fun races like that!

    Cool concept event.

I love the Jersey soft walls. Lol

Also, the picture of the track joint on Black lane.

Further adventures of tracks have to be perfect for cars with no front clearance rules.

    Swiss,

That was a repair done presumably by Mike. He had the Devil in top shape for this event.

You've run flat track cars with front clearance and no front tires? Ive never seen a flat track take on damage from flexy or spring steel cars properly prepped with no front clearance.

    What is a soft wall?

    Thanks

    Dave

I was referring to the rolls of paper towels and cardboard on the chair.
