Thanks Mic. I've been a bit lucky and the new Fet3 is awesome.

Vision is much better now with correct medicine dosage. Still have trouble with a large group of cars in the same vicinity of the track. Need body colors that pop out. It helps a lot knowing the track. When Roger re-opens, his new track will be an extra tough challenge.

This was the forth race of the season & we found a few new / old faces in attendance. Kevin Wisniewski made it for the first time in a long time. Even coming to practice the day before to start cleaning the dust off. We can finally take Chuck Gambo's picture off the milk carton as he showed up with no rust from his time away. Kevin Van Pelt was as fast as ever setting some new track records & Geary Gaspord's 3 race Open 12 streak sadly came to an end. Dale Lipe continues to improve and is knocking on the door for a win in may classes. Andy got his new JRL chassis and is starting to figure out how to run the JRL cars. Dave Schluter is finding his grove & ran very well in Open 12. Ricky Destefano taped up the grill on his race Buick & the better aero helped him get to the raceway early and run all the classes. Bernie was back from the Hillbilly Nats telling us what a great time he had there and is trying to figure out why he can't full punch a flat track.

    PLEASE NOTE

Next race March 5th at the new Mid America location at, 1227E. Ogden Ave. Naperville, IL 60563 (right next to Ogden Movie theater)

April race is at Chicagoland April 9th (NOTE second Sat of the month to help Greg Norris who will be in town)
May race is at Mid America May 14th due to the USRA Nats & before the ISRA Warm-up. (NOTE second Sat of the month)

This was the first race held at the reopened Mid America Naperville, IL location. It's BIG..... REALLY BIG. It was nice running a different track for a change but it shows how much everyone has improved by going back to running a track most are familiar with.
The racing is still close so it seems that running at one track improved everyone's performance as lap totals were still close in most classes. We started out the day on the slow side but then it started to pick up. It was great to see Kevin Wisniewski again
& Roy Hood came out & started dusting the cob webs off. Kevin Van Pelt used his "Third Eye" to stay out of trouble and give everyone the finger by sweeping all 4 classes. Bernie was drinking rum on the beach at Regie's in St Martin, Dale was sick but
came late in the day when he got out of quarantine.

Thanks Mic! Racing luck has been on my side lately.

We are looking at buying a 2nd home in Florida, so funds are lacking for a trip out west this year. I would have liked to get back to the Seattle area again after 30+ years.

We had a great day of racing. The usual cast of characters were present and Larry Kelly was celebrating his 70th birthday. World traveler Greg Norris made it in all the way from Colorado but the long distance award went to World Champion Janis Nobobkins from Latvia who is in Chicago building the new track for the 2016 ISRA Worlds. He just finished the 2017 ISRA Worlds track in Italy. To tell the truth Janis didn't exactly show up to race, Greg Norris & I kidnapped him so he could race with us. And race he did, with borrowed cars & controller. It was pretty humbling when Janis ran away with 1/24 ES with a new lap record by 12 laps....... that will take us years to attempt to reach. He also managed to turn very high lap totals on the tough black lane in every class he ran. It's a good thing he didn't have his personal equipment & was "just running for fun".
He could not have had a more laid back attitude but when the power was on the look in his eye was that of a tiger.

The track was fast and with the added motivation of running against a World Champion track records were broken. It was a great motivation to have Janis here. In Open 12 Dave Schluter broke the track record with a blistering 3.890 lap time but it's laps that matter in the end and I, Rob Voska broke the lap record by 5 and moved the goal post to 315. Next up was 1/24 ES. Ricky D broke Chuck Gambo's record time of 3.73 with a 3.67 (and we won't even talk about how crazy fast Janis was in practice 3.56 or something like that) The old lap record was set by Chuck Gambo at 332. Kevin broke the ES record by running 333, Two Time USRA National Champ Ricky D broke it by running 334, but only one counts in the end and World Champion Janis Nobobkins broke it by running 344 with borrowed stuff. He would have also won A Pro (run with B Pro) but got the interior sucked in the gear during a crash not of his making.

Picture: World Champion Janis Nobobkins with the usual cast of shady Great Lakes ISRA characters. Some say black is slimming.... but judging from the picture....... IT'S NOT! LOL

I find it hard to believe as many people race in the Chicago area that we don't have better series attendance. We support two raceways, Chicagoland & Mid America. Mid America is hosting the 2016 ISRA Worlds. We have two classes that you can run FK style motors (JRL & B Pro), it's a good group of guys to race with & the level of competition is great but with a friendly help you any way we can group twist. With the 2016 ISRA Worlds coming to Chicago and everyone able to run the Production class (X25 or Patriot, X12 motor, spec tires & body).I just can't believe more area racers are not going to take the opportunity to participate in a event of that caliber & learn from the best slot racers the world has to offer. I don't care if you run retro, wings or Saturday night fun races it seems a great opportunity to participate in a event with others from all over the world. You can find the rules here. http://isra-slot.com/

    PLEASE NOTE

May race is at Mid America May 14th due to the USRA Nats & before the ISRA Warm-up. (NOTE second Sat of the month)

ISRA Warm Up 1 is May 27-29th. http://2016.israworlds.com/
ISRA Warm Up 2 is July 8-10th
ISRA Warm Up 3 is August 26-28th

That was one of the most fun GLISRA races ever. Lot's of laughs, really laid back, and really great racing!

Thanks so much everybody! In particular, thanks so much to Janis for racing with us!

    Greg
