    ProSlot PS4002-FK

    JK Retro Hawk

These are the 2 most widely used motors right now.

Which is best depends on who you ask.

If you ask me, the ProSlot PS4002-FK is best.

It all depends on the rule set at your raceway. Most racing classes use the JK Retro Hawk for their classes

Thanks for the info , are the JK Retro Hawk motors pretty consistent or do you have to go through a bunch of them before you get a good one? again thanks for your input on these motors.

It all depends on how important it is to you to get a top 1% one.

Like any non-G7 motor, you can always keep spending and hope for one that's a minuscule better.

Here are the results from my last annual Retro race, in GT Coupe-Pro, where racers were limited to 3 or 4 handout Retro Hawks, and most bought 2, and Howie, maybe only 1.

About as close of results as I've seen, 1st-7th.

    GTC-Pro results:

    1) Howie Ursaner - 295 laps, best time of 4.669 in blue

    2) Ralph Thorne - 294, 4.647 in blue

    3) Kevin VanPelt - 294, 4.581 in blue

    4) Ross Scharf - 293, 4.651 in blue

    5) Greg Fox - 293, 4.646 in blue

    6) Mike Swiss - 292, 4.673 in orange

    7) Joe "Noose" Neumeister - 292, 4.643 in green

    8) Bernie Schatz - 241, 4.886 in blue

    9) Les Chase - 16, 4.699 in green (dropped out from fatigue)

As far as the Proslot 4002FK being a choice, it's depends on your criteria on what's a Falcon / Hawk 7 type motor.

The 4002FK has a plastic endbell with replaceable brushes and springs.

ProSlot PS4002-FK has way better brakes.
    Faster and longer lasting.

I see no reason to run a motor that you throw away when the brushes wear out.

But at least the Hobby has moved past Deathstars.

I like JK products but the Hawk Retro is not much different than the Falcon7.
    It's a throwaway motor.

Screamer is just a gimmick, same as above.

Hawk 7 is the same but faster because it has less winds.

Hawk 25 is the 25,000 rpm limited rental car motor. As an "FK" form factor(motor standard dimensions), it also fits many homeset FK-130 motor pods. The Proslot 4002FK is a form factor "FC' and also fits all of the homeset motor pods that fit the scalextric/Carrera/fly FC-130 motors.

Never saw a JK 'screamer', unless someone forgot to oil one....or is it some stores' cheater motor?

Well the 25.000 rpm's is far from what you actually can measure, recently, after the 1.round of the Danish Enduro Series top was 57.000 rpm's.
remember these motors need to be run- in for a long time.

If you use water, no more than 30 seconds, to be safe.

Also, if you see the water getting dark quickly, immediately stop.

The safest way is to break it in, is minimally on the power supply, and then get it out on the track.

Like a recent post by Joe "Chubby" Salzman, run it, stop, run it, stop, etc., until it seems to "kick into second gear".

No need to do it excessively in water and /or the power supply, and possibly shorten it's life.
