    SP armature

    Does anyone know what an armature with a SP tag is?The diameter is .514 and the stack length is .450

    I believe that was called a Sportsman arm, which was the same as a Contender.

    Jeff is correct. Sportsman was Champion's name for a Contender. These were wound by Proslot. At one time, Sportsman arms didn't have their comms tied, but I don't know if that's true for all of them. I believe these were available both balanced & unbalanced.

    Legal C-can Group 11 along with Wasp, Super Wasp, Contender, Competitor, Contender. 30 gauge wire with a shorter stack than a 16d and sometimes used in D cans as a hotter motor.

    Wind is similar to mini motor Big Dog. Great wind for economical power just slower than group 12.

    I was able to get my calipers on the wire at one point and it was .011 so that is 30 gauge wire.You guys are spot on correct thank you.The comm is tied and balanced.

    Magnet wire has a insulating coating on it so any measurement you make without removing the coating is suspect and inaccurate.
    There are "Racers" and there are "Talkers".....which one are you?
