A raceway can not bid for the nats if it is in the same region or in a region that borders that of the track that is hosting the nats. OH and IL region border each other.

Another "rule" that needs to change. In today's tiny world of slot car racing there are not that many races capable or willing to host the Nats ( scale or wing) anymore. Back in the day when there raceways around every corner it made sense, but not anymore.. Just my 2 Cents!

The problem with that, Bernie, is that locals usually outnumber the traveling racers and only attendees can vote. So, let's take this year as an example. If only those at Chicago this year can vote, it is far more likely that they would rather race in Ohio next year than California, Washington or even New Jersey. Thus, Ohio would get next years. Rinse and repeat. It would be more difficult for tracks in other parts of the country to "win" the bid. As it is/was, it was easy for tracks on opposite coasts to "agree" to help each other in getting their locals to vote a certain way, which resulted in a couple of tracks playing keep-away from the other tracks... I believe this is what resulted in the "Can't bid within 3 years" rule adopted a year or so ago.

I personally think the Nats moving around is a great idea. I think newer tracks, or new hosting tracks, encourage other tracks to submit bids, instead of he same 3 or 4 tracks tossing it around. I enjoy going to other tracks, meeting people I've only interacted with via messages online, and watching Justin race at various tracks. Racing the same tracks, going to the same cities, gets boring, at least for me...

That said, regardless of which track wins this year's bid, those of us in NorCal are fortunate to have two tracks bidding, and to have this race "local" to us next year. Who's next for 2019? Perhaps Ohio? Maybe Jersey again. It won't be in California, Oregon or Washington, so it opens up the experience to other regions...

    Anyway, that's my $.02...

Quick Video of Fast Track Hobbies

Fast Track Hobbies is one of the tracks bidding for next year's USRA Division II Nats. For those of you unfamiliar with our facility, in addition to the print proposal posted above, here's a quick (1:40 second) video of some recent racing on our tracks.

Please take a quick look, and those of you attending Nats this year, we'd appreciate your vote!!!
