With the issues present at the Ohio Challenge Cup season opener the choice was made by the Board of Directors to hold a meeting to discuss both what had went wrong and what can be done moving forward. It was a clear agreement that the implementation of the day's schedule was not all we had hoped. "Best laid plans..." and so forth.
Rather than carry on stubbornly and potentially alienate a loyal, dedicated, and all-around awesome group of racers, some revisions have been agreed upon which we feel will ensure that the remainder of the schedule will not feature some of the stresses of the opener.
To that end, here's what racers will be able to expect from HMS onwards...
1: 1 minute qualifying rather than 30 seconds. It was plainly agreed that 30 second qualifying was a false economy and that it did not give many racers a chance to put in a truly representative lap.
2: Half Hour Lunch and Practice Time at the close of GT1-A racing. Qualifying will no longer be stacked on top of Lunch, giving everyone (including the Series Director) a chance to eat and relax.
3: Group 10 and GTP will tech together at the close of Lunchtime practice +15 minutes, giving ample time for adjustments after the GT1-B and GT1-A races.
4: Qualifying will begin at the end of tech with ALL participating racers not immediately qualifying or on deck to qualify participating as marshals.
While there is no doubt that this will add up to some extra time during the course of the day, we feel it's the best response given the many valid responses we received both during and after the season opening race at Haven.
Thank you everyone for your understanding as we strive to make for a better Ohio Challenge Cup for everyone!
