    Great Lakes ISRA 2017/18

Great Lakes ISRA 2017-18 Series Race #1

November 4, 2017, the first race in the Great Lakes ISRA Series was held at Mid-America Raceway and Hobbies in Naperville, IL.

The first event of the day was the JRL/F1 race on the former D.J.'s Hot Slots Chris Dadd's built 'LTD' Track (eight entries).

    1 - Chuck Gambo 246 laps
    2 - John Miller 241
    3 - Dale Lipe 238

Next race was the Open-12 contest also on the LTD (nine entries).

    1 - Dale Lipe 276 laps
    2 - Kevin Van Pelt 269
    3 - Rob Voska 265

    4 - John Miller 265.0001

Third (Rob) and fourth (John) positions in this race were decided literally by the smallest margin that I have ever seen. It was nearly a dead heat.

The ES-24 Race was not run due to lack of entries and a wish to get the race day over with reasonably early.

The final race of the event was B-Production (nine entries).

This was the second race of the season. JP & Rick Stagen joined us along with wing guy Bernie "feel the bern" Schatz, along with the rest of the gang including Kevin "not funny" Van Pelt & Larry Kelly brought his new track cleaning solution.

We run 4 classes and it has been a stable series for the last 10 years. There was some great racing with some very good racing and close lap times and finishes.

Great Lakes ISRA was at Chicagoland this past weekend. The temp was warmer than last month but the racing was hot with some new records being equaled but not broken.
Dale Lipe is working hard to improve every aspect of his program. Great to see you and Geary working so hard. That's what makes it fun. Who knows if CHuck woudl make it 5 minutes before tech closes he might have podiumed in all the classes.

We ran all 4 classes. JRL was up first with Dale setting the pace.

Second was Open 12. It was a fast class with some great racing action.

After lunch we ran 1/24 ES & fast times were equaled but not broken by 3 racers.

Last class of the day is B Production & again Dale was victorious.

Next race is at Mid American in Naperville March 3rd on the 2016 Worlds track. Come check out some great flat track racing.
