Happy New Year to one and all.
It’s time once again to start planning for the Gaithersburg 1100. This will be the 7th running of this race. We want to thank Mimi Wong and The Track in Gaithersburg for being our host for the past 6 years. But it was you racers that made this event the largest race at The Track for each of the past 6 years.
Now it’s on to the Gaithersburg 1100 v2.0... I want to take this opportunity to welcome and thank SpeedZone in Mt Holly, NJ, as the new host of the 1100. As Tony mentioned above, in discussions with the SpeedZone leadership, we are all in agreement to race on their Gerding King to keep the 500/600 lap records intact. As many remember this was the Gerding at Chick’s in Ashland, VA, so many already have laps on this fast track.
Tony and I are currently working on the rules for the 1100. But rest assured that the motors (PSFK (F1) & S16d (NASCAR) and bodies will remain the same. Any changes to last year’s rules will be posted in the coming weeks.
Thanks again to SpeedZone, the racers, and my fantastic co-director for making this event happen every year. See you all on 7 April for the warmup and 19 May for he race.
