First off those magnets are call dragmaster quad they are designed for drag motors. nowhere that i'm aware of allows them in 16 d motors for scale or other type cars . I've built several drag motor with them and they are very good on drag track . but they also get hot too hot to run on a hillclimb or king Imho.

Rules at Hornsby Slot Cars is " any commercially available D can set up " .
Well the PS2100 with quads is a commercially available setup .
The track is a 185ft Hillclimb

2 weeks ago one of my built S16D motors broke the lap record but I always feel the need for more speed

The "setup" is the can, not the contents.

Rules say original magnets must be used . The quads in a PS2100 are the original

    Rubbish !!

Setups consist of the motor can with glued in magnets, a can bushing or bearing, and an endbell with complete hardware ready for an armature, brushes and springs for a complete motor.

Good discussion of magnets on the old www.slick7.com website. Talks out multi versus singles , flat tips versus angle tips etc. etc.

My understanding is that multi-segment magnets in cobalt strap motors approximate a radial magnetic field, so compared with a single-mag setup, you might get more torque and a smoother motor - at a cost. I think you would need at least 6 segments to notice any difference. Multi-mag motors are common in flat track European racing. When it comes to ceramic magnet classes, I believe that those magnets are already radially oriented, so there's no advantage to be had by using multi-segment magnets. ProSlot used to make a ceramic magnet with a big groove down the back called 'Single Magnet Quads' - IMO no advantage to be found here unless you were looking for a fairly weak magnet.

Again, I can post in this thread, but can't get, or see, anything on page 2, how I have my pages configured.

Yes they can be used in D cans as quads are the original magnets for a ProSlot D can
If I could work out how to put a image of rules on here I would

Test to get to 3rd page to see if that helps.
Why do I do this to myself?
