Ron misspoke about the acceptance of the Swiss weighted guide. It is not legal in SCRRA events. The fact that Swiss isn't on their BoD probably was a major factor in the outcome of their decision.

i was surprised those weighted guides were even mentioned on "Between the Lanes." Those two parties aren't exactly bosum buddies.
I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people who annoy me.

    Sam,
I guess the BOD forgot I was a member, when my "Conehead" lightened Parma crown gears got banned, or rejected the first 3D print of my McLaren M7C. Lol

FWIW, Ron has raced twice, at my raceway, in the last 3 months or so.

DING DING DING DING DING.....You just made my argument.

Those two examples display PRECISLEY why this modified weighted guide should never have been approved. It is not "Retro". Just like multi directional/center hinges, German Brass, thin or squished aero bodies, big stupid wings, steel/brass plate chassis rails, key 'n slot construction, blueprinted motors, and three piece motor brackets. THEY ARE JUST NOT "RETRO". PERIOD! The precedent was set. It was working successfully for over ten years. Suspect chassis kits, bodies and motors not allowed to muddy the Retro waters. A slippery slope here my friends.

    Nothing funny here.

They didn't have Wonder rubber, fish rubber, or "only Joe Reid only knows how do to treat it", Kelly $20 rear tires, but we have it in Retro.

Also, they didn't have controllers with multiple adjustments, but we have them in retro.

I don't know who "They" are, but all the things I mentioned are illegal in IRRA Retro racing right now, right here. http://irraslotracing.com/rules.html

We(not "they") are Retro racing, not Vintage racing. The rules were written and the precedent was set by multiple past IRRA BoD rulings.

So what's next? Swiss Speed Rubber? Swiss CL Controllers with "Capacitor Turbo Zap" ?

Tire material rule: only SBR, Wonder, and natural rubber type materials are acceptable. Tires made from, or coated with, silicone, urethane, or other similar compounds, may not be used.

    Swiss speed rubber?

As mentioned, there is already Kelly Retro's.

They gave you more speed, so guys paid $20 for them.

Terry Kelly or Joe Reid had zero connection to the IRRA BOD, but they were allowed.

They never had 3/32" axles with inlines, back in 68, but we are using them now.

    A $1,000 controller in 1968 $$$'s would be $138.

A top line controller in the late 60's, a Gorski double micro was only about $40.

So controllers that are 3.5X more expensive are allowed.

BTW, with you gone from Slotblog, my moderation duties are much easier.

More time to make weighted guides.

You are not getting it. WE ARE NOT VINTAGE RACING! What "They" had in the 60s is moot. Meaningless. Nor relevant to present day Retro racing.

And as far as moderating, I don't violate SB's terms of use. YOU DO!(makes personal attacks without provocation)

And you better get to work. If your product becomes unavailable at raceways they will get the same treatment Ron's bodies got. Or will they?

Sorry Sam, but you rattled on about politics, every chance you got.

Other than when I told Jay Guard where to go, after he took a personal swipe at the IRRA, you'll have to point out where I broke the TOU.

BTW. I sold him a 1000 foot roll of braid since then.

    Why?

Because, unlike you, he has a thick skin.

Swiss says: "Sorry Sam, but you rattled on about politics, every chance you got." (Complete lie)

No I didn't. Never happened. You can interpret what I said as "political". I would drop key words that would stir thoughts. Are you the thought police? I did not make any direct political references anywhere. EVER! I even campaigned for the elimination of Freeblog. I never said "Donald Trump is a (fill in the blank)" or Obama was born in "(fill in the blank)" . Stop with the personal attacks. Stick to the facts Mike. No "Alternative Facts" allowed. (see what I did there?) LOL

Let's stick to the subject and stop trying to knock or demean others. Your modified weighted guide shoes. Are they "Retro" ? Yes or No ?

    I say "No".

Speaking of Ron...I didn't hear him say whether or not Swiss weighted guides are legal in his R.E.T.R.O. series.

    Yes, you are clever.

Enjoy your cleverness, here on OWH.

    Breakfast is over.

    Time to make the guides.

    Take care.

Stopped by World Famous Port Jeff Raceway yesterday after a service call in the area. Didn't have my slot box with me but one of the locals offered a loaner car and controller. Thanks Frankie Wheels. The Jersey John chassis car ran well with a new set of Thunder Mediums. A late race crash took out the gear but a pit stop got me back in. Fun race. Thanks to all the A-Main racers who volunteered to marshal our race.

Swiss weighted guides were available at the counter. $11(unthreaded). That's ELEVEN DOLLARS for a guide shoe!
