The Ohio Challenge Cup made its first of two trips into the Keystone State as its second round visited North East Slot Car Raceway. The 100' Ogilvie Reverse Orange made for blistering racing in all classes in the series's annual trip to Lester Lucas's shop.

GT1-B was contested by a narrow field of 5 entries but this didn't mean the racing was spoiled for action as Fantasy Raceway's Jim Harter held a race-long battle with shop owner Lester Lucas and Downriver's Floyd Wagner. When the dust cleared, Harter stood on top to take the win. Floyd Wagner took the second spot by just one panel with Lester third and father/daughter duo Dan and Haley Halfhill fourth and fifth respectively.

GT1-B results

Jim Harter – 246
Floyd Wagner – 245.08
Lester Lucas – 245.07
Dan Halfhill – 239
Haley Halfhill – 232

GT1-A had 9 entrants and the makings of a great fight at the sharp end of the grid and the winner was a big takeaway as Haven's Jeff Henes took the win by five laps after having not even made the decision to come to North East until Wednesday night. Second and Third AGAIN came down to panels as PA Posse member Jim Verga grabbed the second spot over Steve Peppler, while the Mad Mexican himself, Jay Sabala, showed an impressive return to form in fourth. Fifth spot was Dave Decoster over Justin Porter in sixth, with Bob Foster, Ron Vincek, and the returning Jim Torre rounding out the field.

14 Entries made Group 10 the biggest field of the day and the thumping 16D's made for a wild fight. Jeff Henes set the tone with the TQ time, but it would be Dave Decoster standing on top of the pile with the win. Justin Porter would come home second from the B-main after a disaster of qualifying. Steve Peppler completed the podium, also out of the B-main. Jeff Henes settled for fourth after taking TQ. Not bad for a borrowed car! Lester Lucas continued his solid day with fifth over Bob Foster. Dan Halfhill made a strong run to seventh over Jim Harter, while Jim Torre pipped Jay Sabala for ninth by a matter of panels. Haley Halfhill had one of her better qualifying efforts but struggled in the race to ent up eleventh, followed by Floyd Wagner, Jim Verga, and Ron Vincek.
