    RIP to a great one.

The slot car community has lost Jim Hahn.

He passed this morning in his home. I am not sure of the details yet but preliminary thoughts are a heart attack.

Jim and I were driving buddies to out of town slot car races. I will miss him dearly. He always had great teaching conversations.

I will post more details as I hear more.

    GodSpeed Jim!!

    Hi Al,
A person on Slotblog was asking if you raced with Joe Kelley, back in the day, as he has, and has restored, a chassis engraved with his name.

If so, what do you remember about him?

    Hey Mike,

There was Joe Kelley that raced in the Sacramento area that I knew and remembered. He came back to race in the NorCal area for a while, scale stuff and I think a little retro also. But he passed away a couple of year back while still living in the Sacramento area.

Then there was a Joe Kelly (note the spelling of the last name) who raced in the San Francisco bay area and had the nick name of Joke Elly who I traveled with to SoCal races in the late 60's and early 70's. I lost contact with him in the mid 70's and I haven't hear from him since.

I believe that the chassis on the SlotBlog forum may of belonged to the first Joe Kelly from Sacramento. I hope this information maybe useful for the person inquiring about that chassis.

I liked Jim Hahn a lot! He worked on my motors for many years. He was always very friendly and he did very high quality work. I will miss him. Rest in peace, Jim!
