Washington Slot Car Club 2021/22 series

Washington Slot Car Club 2021/22 Season

In the spring of 2021 when the covid lockdown was lifting we ran 3 races to see how a flat track series would go over in Washington, PA at the Canonsberg Sportsman Association on their restored UK Black track.

We decided on 3 standard, simple classes. USRA JRL, USRA GT12 and ISRA 24 Production. Turnout was good for a start as we had full tracks. We hired marshals so we did not have to run 4 and 4 or whatever. I think the high was 11 racers. Friday practice from mid-afternoon until 9 PM and doors opened at 8 AM Saturday. Racing started at 10AM and we were done by 3:30. We even got great rates at a nice local motel.

We still have a few bugs to work out around lunch and regulations but overall, everyone was happy & said they would be back.

The 2021/22 schedule looks like this.
    November 13
    December 11
    January 15
    February 19
    March 19
    April 23 tentative

Hope to pick up a few more racers that want to race on a flat track and have a good time with stable equipment.

We secured a local motel for the series. Mention Washington Slot Car Club and your room rate is about $78 total with taxes for a two bed room. Nice clean motel at a fair price. Call direct to make reservations 724-884-1450.

Happy New Year to all. I would like to thank all those that participate and make the series. I also encourage those that want to run a series with stable rules to join us. Next race is January 15th.

It's the track from the USRA Nats at Mineral Ridge. It's been totally re-decked & they did a beautiful job.

Just home from work and phone blew up. Not sure what is going on at this time yet. Stay tuned. This was posted on our FB page.

Please except my apology for posting this. After 18 years of being a director of the Canonsburg Sportsman. I lost my directorship with the last election. Greg, Den K and I wet to the track to clean and prep today With out any idea I found out i was locked out. They changed the lock on the door and locked me out. Several calls were made with no returns.
So I will be canceling the practice tomorrow and the race Saturday.
As I find anything out I will post it ASAP

It seems it was just an oversight. Racing as scheduled next month. Very sorry for the inconvenience.

As promised. After calls being returned and talking with those officers it is looking like it was a lack of 1 officer who changed the locks not notifying me of the change. I was told Sunday when the bar is open that there will be a new key for me to pick up.

It was great while it lasted and seemed heading in the right direction. Sadly we have lost our space to keep the track and the track has been sold. There will be no more racing at Washington Slot Car Club.
Many thanks to Ron and Greg for being such gracious hosts over the years and the guys that make any series successful. I am working on a new location and track and will keep you posted.
