i know you all havent heard from me in the longest of times. i just popped in to see what the deal was w/ the AFTW. i have been thinking of going, but at the moment, i am trying to save up my money to move out. plus i havent raced in a while and dont have any cars. maybe i will try to pop in or lee might hear from me in a week or so. if i decide to go, when, lee, do you need me to contact you by? i will probably want to race gt12 and euro. but i dont know yet. but dont take this as my word of going.
well, better get back to class.
and BTW, i am 18 now... so if anyone wants to kick my *** not on the track... its legal... lol

    Current Champion

    Neal,

If you want to get your name on the the big trophy again this year contact me as soon as possible. You will have some tough compition this year as Phil Helmuth, the hottest scale racer in the country, will be here. It's going to be a great race.

Hey Neal! What's up? The way i read this it sounds like a plea for a sponsor, eh? Somebody out there must have a few extra $$ for the kid. In my book 18 is still a kid.
Would love to see you defend against FAST Phil!

money is not my most important issue right now. the real issue is getting out there. unless i can find a ride or stay at lee's place again, i am screwed. but it would be nice to make an appearance. get back to my roots, sort of.... haha
I will have about 260-280 dollars. prolly more than that if i am working 40+ hr/wk. actually, a lot more, but i also need to save to help put up on a down payment for a rental house. neways, i am going to go. its a sure thing now. i wanna go. i wannna meet phil, and whoever else i havent met yet. and this time i wont be annoying. or get yelled at.
    i hope
    well, ttfn,
    Neal

    Neal,

It would be good to race against you again. You should see if you can make it tomorrow to get some track time in!

    Free Room

    Neil,

You can stay at my place if you can stand Fred Hood, Phil Helmuth, Herman James and Matt Z if he makes it. I have yard work again this year.

Get your order in soon as ther is only a little bit of time left before the race.

    The Slugfest Mystique

to paraphrase south hill slots owner, kirk livernash:

"slugfest is a big race without the big race attitude."

all the talking is done on the track. it does not take 6 hours to run a 24 minute race. you show up, tech, qualify, and race. then you do it all over again for the next class. racers rarely show up to race one class. they are there to hook up their controller and go racing. slugfest is all about what happens on the track.

it is a serious race for serious racers.

however, with that said, it is also a great place to just hang out. the atmosphere is more like a symposium than a circus.

the reason there is no "hoopla" on the OWH is that the racers going to slugfest are too busy building, painting, and testing.

don't worry. there will be lots of racers there that would like nothing more than to bring home a coveted slugfest trophy.

you better be ready to walk the walk because talking the talk just ain't good enough.

Darn, I KNEW there was something I was supposed to do this weekend!

Hey Wayne! How many of your concours winning bodies have you got ready to go? Are we going to see you next weekend to dust off some cobwebs and get warmed up? It's the last SCM race of the season!

    hey gary,

i wish i could get down for the last SCM race and then stay for the week, but i've got too much work to do finishing up at school.

harvey and i are planning to come down on friday morning. all of my cars are rebuilt and ready to go. bodies are all painted and mounted (they just need to be bullet proofed and detailed). i wasn't going to paint any bodies, but have found time to do 4 out of the 6 classes i'll be racing.

i'll be testing and practicing on my track extensively. it's not the same as racing, but it is the best i can do. i was on the podium three times my last race at SHS and i hadn't touched a controller for months before! so there is always hope.

    wayne h.
