    Wayne,

Sorry to hear you won't be there next weekend! I'm going to be testing out that new motor I got from you for my Euro. I think I'm probably going to run the other one for Slugfest though. The power band seems a little easier to drive.

I'm going to try getting some bodies painted this afternoon. They won't be anything close to what you and Craig do though!

See ya a week from Friday!

All I want to do is place ahead of Zippity at the races and not come in last.

Of course winning would be nice also.

Well I don't have a prayer of winning Euro, but I sure have fun running in the class! If I can place in the top 5 I will be happy. Anything better than that and I will be exstatic!

It seems that in IRL I've always got one of the better cars but I just don't put together 8 flawless heats and that costs me the race. In a race that typically has 1st and 2nd only a few feet apart at the end one mistake will drop you 3 or 4 places in a hurry!

This year I plan to work on that aspect and not worry so much about how I'm placed in the race. If I can run a really clean race I'll do well. If I can't and make too many mistakes then I'll do poorly. It's as simple (and HARD) as that

So Rocket, what classes are you planning on running?

I was hoping to qualify for the Newbie races -- but since I didn't see those listed I think I will do Amateur LMP. Indy, Group 10 and Group 12 -- would like to try to C12 but don't think I have the right chassis or motor.

It was just an itsy bitsy unavoidable 2 in my answer -- seems like the keys on the keyboard were rearranged again --

Hey Rocket Rod. If i can offer one tip to go faster at SHS it's get the car as low as you can in the front using pads on the outside points of the "wings" on the front of the chassis for contact points and use "small tires". I find in Gr 10 or even 12 you only need about .025 clearance at the back to make a complete race. For qualifying you'll do best with just a whisker clearance under the back end of the chassis. Set your oilites up using either a 37 or 38 spur for clearance. With that you should be able to make a race with anywhere from .685 to .695 tires in most classes. It will depend on track condition too. If the track is green tire wear is minimal. I'm not sure about IRL though or Euro.

    Thanks for the tips --

but I do have a question -- you don't need 032 clearance for tech?

    Thanks

You can find the official Rules at the following link http://fp1.centurytel.net/TheAerie/PNWAMCARules.htm

As far as clearance is concerned the only thing we worry about is that the gear is above the chassis.

SHS and AMCA have a zero clearance rule. You can run as low as you dare. If you run out of tire you're screwed so you gotta know where to start. If you start too high your car won't handle worth a crap. There is a fine line.
As far as what kind of tires work best i like either Speedshop or Alpha Pirannah both with the full small hub.
    Both are available at SHS.

Typically I will start off with 0.695" tires. But if the track is really stuck I'll go up to a 0.705" tire. On a stuck track I like Speedshops and on a looser track I think it's a toss up.

The weather forecast is for very warm temps this week. For those who don't know it can get real warm inside at SHS on a hot day. No there is no AC. It makes the track real slik tooooooo!!!
Better bring lots of Mary K, Paul!

    See ya Friday.
