Vlado was leading by 10 laps with less then a minute to go, when he accidently put his own car on the wrong lane in front of himself. Rich's car smashed into Vlado's, sending Vlado to the pits, while Swiss cruised by for the win.

There were 5 different leaders at some point in the race, with only Benny, Larry, and Rich not having at least a moment in the lead. It was a true crash fest, with a lot of yelling - but also a lot of laughter. It is always fun to see that even when the adrenaline is running high and the frustration level is even higher, that the racers can still shrug it off with a chuckle most of the time. For the spectators, it was very entertaining, with many funny moments as well as many lead changes.

Mike Swiss pulled off the win by not only going fast, but by surviving the best!

Benny's birthday was July 30, 1958 - so he just made it to qualify as an official "Geezer" for this year's Nats.

The minimum age is 45 years old. The older "Geezer's", of course, would like the age to be moved to older, and many have suggested that they make the minimum age a year older every year.

I heard one suggestion to make it a year older then whatever Mike Swiss is each year.

I told Greg Mills that he should not even worry about qualifying for the Geezer race for a looooooong time, and he quickly replied; "2035", indicating he had already been anticipating his impending future Geezer race status.

By that time, the rest of us should be having our controllers mounted to our walkers!

Swiss lead early, while Horky demonstrated his uncanny driving by staying in 2nd - with his eyes closed!!!

Swiss dropped back after "testing" several gears and an extra motor, while Horky showed his ability, but saved his best stuff for Sunday.

As the end of the race neared, Mario was leading by several laps, but slowed down, watching the monitor, and picked up his car, slyly "adjusting" his braid until Mikael had taken the lead. Mario did not want the "bad luck" of winning the warm-up, having never won the Nats after winning a Nats warm-up before. Mikael was happy to win anyway - a win is a win!

Chicky, who has won the Nats 2 times after winning warm-upraces, teased Mario that it was double the bad luck to lose on purpose.

The final heat, in the closing minute, this photo could have served as a podium shot... but Mario slyly watched the monitor as he pretended to fix his braid, waiting for Mikael to pass.

Mario Shone settles for 2nd, Mikael Silen gladly takes the win, and Anders Gustafsson takes 3rd.
