Would someone please explain to me why the Experts are racing at the beginning of the schedule (during the week) while the amateurs get to race at the weekend.

Is it because no one wants to watch the "guns" or because the "guns" don't want to marshal for the 'pretenders'?

I understand that Div 1 races the other way around

It was decided, by a vote of the membership at last year's Division General Meeting, to schedule the Experts and Amateurs separately, rather than concurrently as had been the practice before.

The rationale was that this obviated the need for booking an entire week's worth of hotel time and other travel expenses. While that is true, I think that on balance, the concurrent schedule has more going for it than this one. I will be voting to go back to "the old way".

Yes, but by having the experts race before the amateurs you've cut out the amateurs that are proud of their accomplishments who decide to move up.

This is incorrect. In the Scale Division, anyone may enter the expert races. It is only after an amateur wins an National event that they must move exclusively to the Expert class. If they want to run Expert, all they need do is show up earlier in the week.
