    Finally, I Get To Race!!

i always look forward to this race, especially when my time-starved life rarely affords me the chance to get out and play.

i'm planning on racing all 8 classes again this year (i slapped together an irl and es32 car). i rebuilt 4 more motors today (only two more to go), all of the chassis are done (except for a minor repair to my eurosport), and i even have enough bodies painted, although only two of them might be considered concours contenders.

speaking of concours, my good buddy, oldracer2 (aka harvey mitchler) will be entering a couple of "proxy" bodies. proxy because he will be missing slugfest for the first time in 4 or 5 years. he has some lame excuse, of course (his son is getting married to some southern belle down in alabama). anyway, harvey has volunteered to paint me up a couple of his first-class bodies to race. it will be hard to compete against USRA NATIONAL CONCOURS FIRST PLACE CHAMPION STICKER WINNER, kenny-the-painter ritchins, but we're gonna give it a shot.

i really look forward to meeting up with all my old friends (and making some new ones) in about one month. see you then!

OR2 you need to get the Wedding postponed! You can't miss the race! Sheesh!

Hey Harvey, I'll take 8 bodies painted up nice too!

So Wayne, does this mean you won't be down for the final race on the MTT? I was looking forward to racing with ya again!

I think I will be racing 6 of the 8 classes unless I can get my C1 to actually work. Right now my Group 10 car is faster!

    Cool

Well guys it's true. I will miss the "Flats" this year but i must admit i'll be having fun while i'm away. Beside's attending our Son's wedding in Alabama along with about 20 other relatives and friends we'll be spending a week on the beach at Gulf Shores Ala. Let me tell you there will be plenty of golf on this vacation!
So have fun ya'll and keep those tempers in check.
I'm sorry Gary i won't have much time to paint any bodies although if you happen to have one clear body handy on the 5th i may be able to splash something for you. Wayne could bring it along to the flats. That's after i get his two done!
Anyway we will see you all on the 5th.

    SlugFlats

    Thanks Wayne,

I suppose that I can paint up a body or two for the Slugflats. The only reason I had it mostly my way at the Nats was beacuse YOU were not there. The race is only secondary to the paint, as we all know!

    OK,

I have decided that I will have 4 cars available for any newbie that shows up for the Friday Night Amatuer LMP race to use should they wish to race and don't have cars. The problem is that I don't have that many controllers if all of them end up being spoken for. So I would like to ask that those of us pro's help with lending a controller for the race if you are there and there is a need.

I may also do this for the Am 10 race as well. The bodies will not be anything special as they will be used bodies but I will have cars so that anyone that comes in to race can do so.

So if you know of anyone who is thinking of racing but doesn't have the equipment please have them come and I will provide a good car. For Group 10's they will need to purchase their own tires but for Am LMP I should have enough used tires that all they need to do is show up!

    hey gary,

harvey just dropped off those two bodies this morning and they are bitchin'.

i have an extra c-1 motor (or whole car) you might be interested in running.

how about scoring me a choice pit location!? (and don't be shy about moving the tape over a bit).

see you in a couple weeks.

I can see the "hype" is starting to build as the "Flats" get closer. It's kinda strange for me this year as i won't be able to attend due to a major event in our family. However i will try to tap in via the internet if i can get to a computor.
I just want to say good luck to all the racers from the great PNW and Canada and to all the visitors form around the US and other countries! I am sure this years race will be as good or better than any other. For anyone who has never been, you don't know what you are missing!
    Good luck and have fun!

    Wayne,

I'll do my best on the pit space! Thanks for the offer on the C1 motor! I might just take you up on that! I have a couple good chassis but my C1 motors just aren't up to snuff. I've got 1 I'm working on but haven't got the time to test it. I had actually thought I may not run C1. Money is kind of tight right now as my wife is only working 1 day a week.

I'm heading up to Cache Creek (HiHium Lake) for 4 days next week so my building time is severely cut! I have about 12 cars I need to get ready for the race and I don't know that I'll get them done. Plus I have to paint all the bodies as Jamy can't help me this year and Justin has no interest anymore as he is a "Starving Student".

    Harvey,

You will be greatly missed! Have fun at the wedding! Maybe we'll see you in August at the next Enduro!

that might be a possibility -- depending on how much I have done by then -- I generally just walk around and watch the others golf -- used to golf but the last time out I beat Tiger pretty handily and decided those pros couldn't take the embarrassment

    Wayne,

Friday morning sounds great(for golf) You can count me in.
I am sure to boost your ego with my less than purfect
game. Rod is very good at telling very tall stories but I think
Tiger could still beat him at golf.

    Book'em Dan-o

sounds great harold! i'll phone kirk next week; i know his sons play so they can hopefully tell me where a public course is nearby. i'll book a tee time and if more are interested, i'll book two! i know that ray bishop likes to golf and i'm sure others do too.

my plan is to come down thursday afternoon to get a bit of practice in. then we can head out fairly early on friday.

btw, i like golf a lot more than it likes me (i'm playing to about a 15 right now).

    wayne h.
