    Smile Finally

Well, I'm finally back in business here after a move, a house renovation, a toasted computer, and all of the related fun.

I've missed you guys, and look forward to frequenting this place again. Truth is, I was getting the Jones something awful.

A bit too much to catch up on around here though with all of the new race results forums etc. I'll just have to start from scratch I guess.

    See you soon.

    Thumbs up Weeds Back!

Now, I can cut my moderating hours in half. Does this mean, I'll get half pay? Paul, I'm going to need another raise!

    Welcome back Charlie!!!

The innuendos, sarcastic inside jokes, crude humor, and 12 year old jokes.... just weren't the same without knowing you were snickering at your keyboard too!

You're just in time to help stir things up here on the old weird board - it's been getting a little dry recently!

    Smile Welcome Home

    Charlie,

I thought of you as we drove from Klamath Falls to Chico last year.

As soon as I saw this, I knew I was going to stop

Then we saw this 'monster' just sitting there.

Finally, we had lunch in our first American 'diner'

Great to have you back. What a pity that LR isn't around to make your day

    Weed, CA

    Zippity!

That's a hoot that you ALSO could not resist pulling over to get a shot of the notorious "Weed" signpost!

On my trip to the 2000 USRA Nats at Buena Park, I just had to pull over and get a shot of the highway sign.... which I know I had seen many many years ago on a trip though Calif with ex Pro racer Tom Hansen....

It has been often rumoured over the years, that many a slot car racer has been inadvertainly detoured when ecountering the above highway sign, when en route to slot car races in Northern California.....

    Thumbs up

    Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I always get a kick out of that signpost pic. I have to make a point of visiting there next time I'm out west.

Speaking of towns, Watkins Glen is cool as can be. Its interesting to walk in and out of the bank and hardware store on a street that was once the starting grid for so many U.S. Grands Prix. ( I think that's how you pluralize that!)

Every few yards or so there are plaques embedded in the sidewalk honoring such racing greats as Hill, Stewart, Moss, etc., and the cross street signs are shaped like little vintage race cars......cool.

You have to wonder if a slot track would thrive here, at least in the summer when the place is packed with race fans.

OK, enough drift, I'll have to get back in the game here.

Great to see you all again.

    Or Burdett?

Fingerlakes is slow for slot cars, Watkins seems like a natural spot for a track. Maybe combine with a kart track for the summer crowd. We had a track here in Ithaca during 60s,but the college crowd???????
