    Having painted about 10 million bodies (albeit a long time ago), I preferred the lacquer, thinned with whatever compatible thinner I had around the shop.

    Adhesion was excellent, chipping was rare, and I thought I got the thinnest and lightest in weight (dry) coat out there.

    I won plenty of concourses with bodies that had sometimes 15 or 20 colors on them, and the lacquer allowed for fine and somewhat drier applications of delicate shading that was impossible with the water based stuff. That said, I'm sure that the water based paints have come a long way, but I would be surprised if they really performed the same way as the stinky stuff.
