And now, for OWH readers who may be wondering how I did, or why I sucked... (in case anyone cares )

My brief synopsis is: "I came, I raced, I sucked"

Tony Hobart totally set me up with an awesome car and a box full of motors, after slaving for the past couple days building countless motors all night long. Being a strictly "scale" racer now, I still managed to error on the squeemish side and just did not attack the glue with the proper agressiveness. Outside of that, I still managed to get in the groove and was still in contention for the move-up, outside of a few problems. I managed to get a "hand-job" (not the more pleasant variety) in the finger, and was then the ball in a game of turn marshall volley-ball.

I still managed to be in contention, and only 2 laps out of the move-up. The car was great in red lane, but just as I thought I was getting the hang of it, the motor slowed and then went in a puff of smoke.

I only lost a couple laps, as it was near the heat break. Tony tossed in another great mill, and I still had hope, with green & blue remaining. After hitting one too many wrecks, a pin had jack-knifed and in spite of continuing efforts by the turn marshalls to jam it repeatedly into the slot, it just kept popping out.

The car was great, and I greatly appreciate all the help from Tony Hobart, for the car, motors, and pit work, and Roger Schmitt - for the glueing and pit help - and Roger and Mark Woday of ProSpeed for sponsoring my trip to provide the OWH coverage and providing me a room to stay for the entire week - plus all the help with the computer and photographs. Thanks guys!!!

I had my fun, I got to race. I wish I had done a better job of driving, but I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to race wing cars once again.

Now..... back to work for me

    OWH's "Almost Clairvoyant" Nats Coverage

I'm adding results as soon as each race ends.

Be sure to hit "refresh" every hour or so to see the updated results.

If that isn't soon enough, I'm afraid I'll need to dust off my crystal ball, if you would like me to post results BEFORE the end of each race.

Or.... I suppose we could simply predict all of the results and then just pose the podium photos, as we did for the Group 7 race last year at The Track (to accomodate JPVR's prediction of European "domination").

Then we could save all that time and equipment with all that racing nonsense, and all just go hit a bar, or go sight seeing, to take in the numerous tourist attractions Tulsa has to offer!

Second thought...... maybe we better go ahead and run the races after all.

Yes, Hesketh, it's going to be a loooooooooooooooong, day.

    Just a correction:

    18 - Wm Silknitter - 2.6093 - Bellevue, NC

    It's NE, not NC.

You'd think I'd know that by now, especially since I've been sitting here and talking with both Silky and Gary Gerding - both from Omaha NE.... and Silky was probably sitting next to me when I was typing it...

But it probably just looked like NC instead of NE on his tech sheet.

I'll fix it about now - thanks for spotting it!

The yellow nail polish goes rather well with his blue attire.

Ok..... I'm all alone here, but due to popular request (JoeSSS) - I'll try to do the heat by heat "Almost Live" main event coverage.

I'll keep the results all in the top post in this thread - so it's easy to follow - and feel free to post comments down here at the bottom.

Drivers are taking their parade laps and being introduced now......

    Don't touch that dial!

P.S. - Be sure to hit "refresh" every 5 min or so to see the updated results heat by heat in the top post!

    Thumbs up Congrats to All

Congratulations Shelby and all who participated. 51 entries is a lot of competition. Nice going.
