IRRA LLC MAINTAINS ‘ONE” MOTOR POLICY
IRRA LLC
P.O. Box 1124
Anderson, IN 46015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE …
ANDERSON, IN … Due to the controversy currently being raised about permitting multiple motor choices in upper level retro racing classes, The IRRA LLC has issued a statement defining its position on the matter.
IRRA LLC will continue to only permit the Pro Slot 4002 ‘Puppy Dog’ motor to be used in its Formula One/Indy, Can-Am, World Sports Car Coupe, and Stock Car classes. Multiple motor choices are permitted in the Retro-Flexi class. Additionally, unless otherwise stated, all Pro Slot motors must use a ‘spec’ seven tooth pinion gear. Certain ‘hand out’ motor races may deviate from the above, but will be clearly defined and announced in advance. IRRA LLC events will always be conducted using only one choice of motor in a particular class.
“We strongly believe in the concept of using only one brand and style of motor in retro racing,” said IRRA LLC Executive Director Ron Hershman. “We have clearly demonstrated in the races we have conducted this season that it saves the racers time and money, and cuts down the amount of testing time that is required before races. This is particularly advantageous to the average racer who has limited funding and time to test.
“Racers know what motor and pinion is going to be used prior to the race event, so it makes that part of the equation easier. They do not need to waste time testing multiple brands of motors and a myriad of pinion sizes searching for the right combination.”
